Description
Here's my first colored pencil tutorial.Because a lot of people are asking me to do a tutorial of this media.
Here's some of my tips for colored pencil.
1. Always keep your pencil sharp.
2. Find some paper to place your hand on when coloring, This can prevent your hand from smudging colors on your artwork.
Link to the original work.
*****
Here's something I forgot to include in my tutorial. : x
1. I used Faber Castel. Colleen. Staedtler student colored pencil.
2. I used Light Brown [wax based] for drawing original lineart.
3 Copy paper and Printer paper are the same.
4. If you don't have white gel pen, You can use white postercolor or gouache instead.

I find it lacks info on how to use the actual watercolor effect of the pencils. It looks like you at leat used the watercolor effect in some places, like her skin, but there are no steps about it.

The rest of the image looks fine,
And her right arm looks a bit too long
[or maybe her left arm is a bit too short, I don't quite sure ]
as both arms look fine compared to her body, but have difference length compared to each other.

I don't even sure if I could think off any nice drawing tips, Only tips I have in mind is keep taking commissions or find a job as an artist, I can see myself improve over time from taking long run commissions.

Alright
You can add deeper shadow on grass around her, maybe using blue, deep blue, or purple mixed with blue.
And her Left leg should be extended a little longer, [think about when her right leg lie down on the floor, and compare them in your imagination]
I will not critique about minor details as You will get improved when you draw more picture.

question how hard would you press? would you be gentle or rough?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
emperpep In reply to darkness-rage [2012-06-30 19:59:42 +0000 UTC]
I think I colored it gently.
Using hard pressure might make it harder to erase when you make mistake.

Hi^^ awesome tutorial:3
I have a little question, what type of paper do you use? I mean of how many grams.
I draw in papers of 80gr or 370gr, but i just don't like the final result, i don't know if it's for the paper or the colors:/
Thank you n_n

How many years did you practice to get this result???
I dunno.... My Sis told me I should do more traditional colouring because I'm a bit too concentrated on digital right now.... X_X
