Description
-----FULLVIEW IF YOUR GONNA LOOK AT THIS-----Those of you who are fans of John Carpenters famous horror film, "The Thing" would know this is the scene where Kurt Russell first meets the creature.
Based on the book, "Who Goes There" by John W. Campbell Jr. in 1938.
I consider it as one of the most horrifying films I have ever seen in my life, and at the same time, one of the greatest.
Regardless, I hope you people enjoy this little triubute.

I love John Carpenter's The Thing and the book it was based off of it. This print that you made is a good tribute to it.

Personally I don't think any of the movies faithfully portrayed the thing - I distinctly remember it being described as blue tentacledΒ and red-eyed. I love your silhouette of the alien though.

Thanks.
But in all honesty as far as books to movies go, they just should never be compared in the first place.
Jaws. I loved that movie, and I loved the book. Both different in many many ways, and I did find the book much darker. But if I put a book out of my mind and enjoy the film for what it is, then I can't nearly be as disappointed. But I do understand where you are coming from.

Great job! I agree. John Carpenter's The Thing wasΒ a masterpiece. The film did a great job of portraying how isolated and vulnerable those guys were.
I particularly liked J.R. MacReady. He was one formidable opponent for the creature.

This could be an awesome illustration for the novel, if someone were going to re-publish it. The Thing is one of my favourite sci-fi horror movies alongside with Alien. I myself also plan to draw an illustration for the novel, the scene where main characters try to electrocute a dog-Thing with a high-voltage cable. In the novel they had unfrozen the Thing and it escaped into the kennel where it tried to assimilate and imitate Charnak, their alpha-dog.

Why thank you! That is very kind of you to say
Looking back now, I'm thinking of revisiting this piece and upgrading it to what I could do now as far as art goes.

First time I watched at the scene with the Dogs, I threw up.
After that it took me a whole week to work up the courage to watch all the way through. Aaaaah childhood memories.

I always was terrified by Thing-Dog in the film. It always was the creepiest monster. But only when it only started to... Assimilate other dogs. Poor doggies...

I really like the use of orange and black here, and with the fact that you primarily used silhouettes really makes for a creepy picture!

Thanks! It was a lot of fun to make. Tho at the time it took me a while to figure out what the silhouette would be the shape of. haha

Oh man, the first time I watched it when I was 17, I had to stop it at this scene cause I found it far too graphic to stomach... took me a week to watch the whole thing XD
Nearly puked the first time around, but none the less, it is hands down my most favorite horror film of all time. haha
I am very much happy that it reminds you of the days of old ^__^
