would adobe photoshop elements 6.0 work? i tried it but I couldn't find any of those brushes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Equinus In reply to Blueribboncowgirl [2008-12-31 12:35:59 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Elements 6.0 definitely works! The grass brushes come with Photoshop, just make sure you are viewing the Default Brushes when you open the brush panel! They're there, just look towards the bottom, its called Dune Grass!

i have 2 layers. one with the picture and one called "grass". i have the grass one under the main one. when i draw on the grass one it doesnt show up, but when i look at me layer list it shows up on that! what is going on???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Equinus In reply to 99koolio99 [2008-12-05 20:00:17 +0000 UTC]

You're going to need your grass layer above the main layer, so when you look at it in the layers window, the main layer is at the bottom and the grass layer on top. Think of each layer like a see-through sheet of plastic - if you want to see your grass and draw on it, it'll need to be on top, right? Hope that makes sense!

Hi Equinus.... I feel bad commenting this agian... but I've gotten a little less-n00bish at photoshop than the last question I asked in... February!! Do you think maybe you could have a go at this question? It's okay if you can't!!

Alrighty! Whenever I choose the grass brush, select a swatch, and then start to move across the screen; the color seems to be like, light green and a little bit of semi-light green... which is not exactly the color I've picked as a swatch. Then, when I do things like trees right next to each other and overlapping and stuff, where the trees overlap that whole area just gets black. Do you think you could help me out? Or do you have no clue wtf I'm talking about? I can understand if you can't Thanks *Equinus n u do awesome backgrounds!

Equinus In reply to laceymay14 [2008-05-28 16:52:32 +0000 UTC]

Aw don't worry! That's why these tutorials and me are here - to help! Ok, with the grass colour swatch, you need to use two different colours. Reason why, the grass brush uses both colours in the swatch. If you make the colours the default black and white, you'll see it in the grass. What I tend to use, is one dark green, and then one slightly lighter green that's got a little more yellow in it. That should make it a little more realistic. Hope that helps!

As for the overlapping and those areas turning black, that sounds very strange! I've never had that before! Perhaps check your brush settings and the layer settings, sometimes downloaded brushes have settings that we're not aware of, and they might need to be changed. Otherwise, and this might be a bit tedious, but try put each tree on a new layer, and see if that works! It might get a little mad with all the layers, but it might just solve the funny overlapping problem!

Omg I didn't think about that with the grass!! That will DEFINATLEY help!! And I'll mess around with the brush settings and things with the trees Actually a little earlier before I could get onto dA I tried out the layer thing, and surprisingly it didn't work Oh wells!! I should probably get it working soon Thank you so much equi!! Youre awesome!!

hey! I just got photoshop and am a complete n00b at it... i was wondering where the Dune Grass is and like... how do u get a horse onto photoshop?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Equinus In reply to laceymay14 [2008-02-24 05:44:59 +0000 UTC]

Getting a horse onto Photoshop, you'd have to start off with a new image. Create a new layer, make sure it's transparent, and then draw your lines. Then make a new layer, shift it so that it's underneath the lines and put your colour. From there, you can do your background. The dune grass is found in the first set of brushes that appear when you open the brush panel. Just scroll down, it's somewhere there!
