Description
NOW sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The firefly wakens: waken thou with me.
Now droops the milk-white peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.
Now lies the Earth all Danae to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.
Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.
Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.
from "The Princess"
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Created as a Christmas gift for my friend Kristina. There will be a companion piece following this one.
The Book of Night is a tome of great power that encompasses all the magic that belongs within the Realm of Night. Generally, the book is associated with evil and dark magics, but the night is not necessarily evil. The book draws and calls the caster, seeking to reveal the secrets of star light and moonlight and to grant the seeker power. The female Avatar of the book is a woman with flowing black hair filled with stars dressed in a gown of shadow and silver light. She points the way for the seeker to follow ... what is sought, she cares not.

It's beautiful You've done so much with limited colours, and that makes it look all the more amazing.

I love how contrasting some areas are containing great detail with others that are filled in very generally. It's an interesting style.

This is so incredibly beautiful. I love your color choice, and the slight variations in the blues that clearly define what is what and where it is.
I also love the starry sky/leaves that go around the border. I'm a huge sucker for things like that and I see it so rarely.
I'm not very good at comments, or at descriptions, but what you have here is wonderful, and I'm going to go check out the rest of your gallery.

Pretty interesting picture! The way her hair slowly melts into the darker starlit sky is very well-done... and I like how the bottom part of her dress seems to turn into mountains and clouds (not sure if the mountain part is intended or not, but sure it's the feeling I get from it). A nice and delicate piece
