i actually made a tutorial! took me a few days to go through actually making everything and saving all the images and everything. but yea, this is a beginner tutorial for 3d Studio Max. It basically teaches how to make legos and how to use the coordinate system to place them and everything. goes into a little bit about lighting and rendering, how to setup and use a camera, etc. etc. i tried to make it as detailed as possible.if you use this tutorial or any of my ideas and you submit them ANYWHERE, please let me know. or at the very least mention me in your description. thanks!

i used this tut only for lights. lol. Actually i knew how to do teh lights 2!

Thanks, i think it's because you explained it step by step, so i guess they all look alike, but now i learned about reflection, camera's and lighting a bit. I have to do it a couple more time with the tut for it to stick, but it really helped. thanks.

the problem is your blocks are measured correctly...with a caliper you will find htat each side is .31 of an inch, and each circle has a diameter of .18 with a .13 of an inch space. If you do that they come out so much nicer looking. You can look at mine to see what i mean.

This is my very first try in 3d max, and i must say that this is a very good tutorial, i ''passed'' it in about 1.5 hours, and i think i tought me the very basics in 3d max.

excellent tutorial mate .. esp/ loved how the pics are blowup-able in a pop-up window
also ... it worked quite nicely and i learned a thing or two ... or three
on the nitpicks ... your measurments are poop and i couldn't create the 4x2 and 3x2 with them in a normal way
but it's ok .. i was never that enthusiastic about the concept of making an already sketched out robot with tentacles and all
i guess i'll just improvise since i don't really feel like making the math comutations just yet.
anyways ... was a great tutorial .. expect another mention and also something with lego's

and about the measurements. i use centimeters, you have to use the exact measurements i use or the rest of the tutorial won't work, but yea, other than that..

Aight dude, wicked tutorial it well written easy to understand ect i only bin using Max 7 for 3 weeks now and i have come accross one problem with ur tut. when i got to do the light tracer bit it wont let me do light tracer.....
How do i go about correcting it ???
