I'm assuming your referring to the movie Frankenstein, as the book contained no mention of electricity being used to resssurect the monster.

Yep, mostly latter day versions of the story involve the use of big Telsa coils and such, with the film Van Helsing even having Frankenstein's monster having a bottled thunder storm instead of a brain... for some reason.

I believe James Whale, director of the first Frankenstein movie needed some creative and dramatic way to show off the resurrection. He chose electricity and everyone else has been riding on that since.

Shelley did imply electricity was involved in some manner, with her referencing Galvanism at some point (though also alchemy too). The whole Tesla coils and such were definitely a later addition.
