Description 'Run Away!'

Another experiment using layers of translucent paper.

I printed out a whole lot of 'exits' and maps for an art project I was working on at school, some on normal paper and some on translucent. I sat the papers down in a pile and noticed this cool effect coming through....

This actual piece doesn't exist anymore though. I really needed those little 'exits' for the other artwork, so I cut the paper up. But I could easily knock one up again. I actually did the other day, but my cat ate it. Truly. Damn you Macy, now I have to go buy more Asian rice paper!

The sepia tone was added later in Photoshop. Didn't quite feel this piece belonged in 'Digital Art' though, so it's here

Thanks! I really like to use symbols that people have preconceived ideas and notions about. I like to put them into a new light, or use them as some kind of visual metaphor.

It's also a little sneaky, because people can immediately feel some kind of connection with the work.... feel it is familiar

I am so in love with this!! Amazing work! !!

On a side note, I went to an Art Festival today in Harrisburg, PA and saw some amazing shots of brightly coloured buildingsides, doors, windows, ect., that reminded me of you! Thought you should know. Keep up the good work!

that works really well i like how the translucent paper gives a feeling of depth by blurring some parts of the background and the little running man is cool haha I have one sheet of translucent paper like that. I've never used it for anyway before. I thought about using it as a diffuser for photos, but this gives me more ideas

Yes, i agree. The transparency effect is a good one that i hope you use again. Maybe in some collages or zerox pieces.

Thanks!

I will be using it some more.... want to try out some different experiments and things. I think I'm going to try using different versions of my photos and things, with layers of drawings too.

There's really so much you can do with that paper!
