Description Bit of a quick piece.... I like to work fast and spontaneously sometimes - just to see what happens.

I really enjoy working with a similar subject matter between my photographs and paintings. I'd like to eventually have a body of work compiled of both, where you actually have to look twice to see what's actually a photo and what's a painting.

I like to blur the lines like that. I want my paintings and photographs to have a thick urban abstract vibe - and to have surfaces riddled with textures and wonderful painterly qualities, strong colours, symbols and text.... and interesting layouts and compositions.

I don't want to depict the world - but rather the more abstract qualities that make up reality. I want to show time, history and process.... I want to show mystery and anonymity, I want to show the every day little things that surround us.... the very simple things that are common elements of any urban environment.... and that weave the very fabric of our cities.

Anyway, I hope you like this piece. Also - don't take the title too literally. Most of my titles are just abstract little word play, that I muck around with until I feel look and feel 'right'

I try to create similar feelings as well within my work. I try to make my digital pieces look as organic as possible.
you have definitely acheived what you intended, seeing this grouped with your other recent postings I thought it was some interesting little corner or bulletin board that you captured.
well done.

Hehe yeah - I was so happy to find them. At the moment I want a whole heap of small square panels.... so about 20x20cm. I've had no luck in finding anything square in such a small size.... so I think I'm going to have to make them myself (argh - tedious workkkkk)

Yes yes, more paintings coming

haha, canvas-making is like making a samurai sword... you know in movies, japanese sword makers kept checking the straightness of their swords... well, like them, canvas makers kept checking the tautness of their canvases... lol, why did i think of that stupid analogy

I want like.... 60 or so pieces. So I'll make panels.... I think I'll just get my hands on a huge piece of ply or masonite.... rule in all out and go down to D-Tech to cut it all up (thank goodness for my wood working skills.... I'm allowed to use all the saws )

Then I'll just have to stretch canvas on all of them.

Not as difficult as making actual canvases.... joining the pieces and what not

*applauds u*......
You yourself seem to inspire, or create a new light in people (by that i mean me)
Your works always captivate me collette. I particularly like this one!!! and I like your ideas about the painting/photography thing, it leaves u so confussed a girl in year 12 at our school did something like that for her major work as a series, you seriously have to stare at it really closely to figure out what it is...

This was really well done hun

Thanks very much Jasmin!

How did year 12 go at your school? Think there's some band 6 artworks among them?

Heh, we won't talk about our school this year. Let's just say - probably the worst year 12 art ever!

Glad you like it Jasmin

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the year 12 work from our school, they had like a showcase thing of their art for the year11 art students, we were like woah... They've been working on them for so long, and all their ideas are unique and very individual...

Next year collette, the emmaus artworks will be far more better then this years, believe me. You'll set the standards and everyone will feel like they have to achieve just as high.

Our year 12 pretty much all did the last minute rush. It was really disappointing actually. And a lot of the concepts were very weak, because they'd started so late and had no time to develop them.... and they couldn't be very selective when it came to picking what they would submit. It's also kind of sad for us, as we had no 'role model' art students to look up to.

Next year will indeed be better though. There's a lot of potential within the class, it just has to be pushed a little bit sometimes - but just leave that to Waller and I (Although I might need plenty of pushing myself!)

Even if I had nothing to do with it - they'd still do a lot better than year 12 I think. They have all improved so much this year - it's really great!

Cool cool..... I cant wait for next year, though the thought of the major piece is rather intimidating, collette you would so love my art class, some of the concepts people come up with, and how individualised (is that a word) everyone makes their works... When I get my last piece back I'll take a photo and stick it up on here, I was sooo proud of it, I've never been proud of my traditional works, until this one.lol...

I am in love with this piece. It's so abstract and it comes together so very well. The painting itself is great, I love how you stuck to the same colour scheme. And then the way up put it together is the icing on the cake. Great job. There's meaning in there, I just don't know what it is yet. I'm favouriting this piece.
