Description
I was approached by a fantasy writer and agreed to use one of my old images for a book cover. I touched it up and added more detail and colors and here it isyou can check out the older, uglier version here:

EDIT: Wow, I checked my messages today and it turned out I got a DD! Thank you so much for making it happen, Ginryuzaki and ^laserBEAST!!! Peeps have been asking about the book, the series is called "Il sole di Alur" and is written by Alissandro Fusco. It's supposed to be out this winter as far as I know. I'm very glad you like the picture, folks!

Hi, yes I did! Thank you very much! How was it received? Unfortunately I can't read it because of the language barrier

The book is gaining even better comments than the previous 1 and 2, so I've decided to leave the Editor definitevely and create my personal indipendent trademark, with many other artists. As soon as possible (but there are problems due to the Editor's rights upon the saga) we will provide the English editions for Amazon and alike. The character of Sygrinth, the barbarian woman of your cover art, is strinking readers one by one, a full Wagner's style solo-figher that hasn't been seen for years

A truly great achievement, worthy of all the praise received in previous comments, and then some. The V-shaped composition neatly draws the viewer in, while the posture of the character -- half relaxed, half dynamic -- gives a commendable if discreet tension to the piece. And you simply cannot grow tired of the sun setting behind soaring peaks ! Above all, there definitely is an old-school feel to this, both in painting style and in mood, which recalls a time when fantasy art was perhaps a bit less enamoured with dramatic vistas and Piranesian architectures. A (slightly larger-than-life) mountain brook can sometimes be enough to provide plenty of atmosphere, and the whole picture has an agreeably wistful quality. Forgotten realms, indeed.
As a final musing, comparing this with the older version, I was rather sorry that the branches overhead had to go : they gave off an interesting wintry tinge. But those mossy trunks quite make up for the loss, and tend to emphasize a certain romantic atmosphere.Β

Indeed I was also struck by the Artist'sΒ old-school style and that's why I had asked for the picture as cover art
