I didn't! BIzarre weather and an unknowing stranger in a convenient location were all that I required. I did nothing more than clicking a shutter.

I find this image to be incredibly powerful. The simplistic composition of the work immediately causes you to wonder what is going through the model's mind as they stand, partially immersed at the water's edge. The title helped me to draw the conclusion that this piece is an expression of simple, untainted bliss. However, the slightly unnatural stance of the model, the tenseness in the shoulders and the positioning of the arms, adds more mystery to the piece. When spending time at the sea, I myself have been caught standing in ankle deep water, simply enjoying the surroundings and savouring the moment, so I feel I can relate to this image.
Technically, this photo is very stunning. The symmetrical composition brings a sense of tranquillity and poise to the work. The dark silhouette of the figure contrasting with the pale radiance of the sun is what really drew my attention to the photograph in the first place. It is interesting, how the relative harshness of the ripples on the water is a contrast to the soft gradient of the sky – and blending of sky and sea! Simply beautiful. I really do like the desaturation and slight blue/green tint, yet I'd be very interested to see what the piece looked like still coloured. (That is, of course, assuming that it wasn't taken with greyscale film, in which case I just wish I had been there in person! Wait, I see now that you were using digital. Never mind.)
I could continue to ramble on in this manner, but I'll spare you eyes! Just a few questions before I finish, firstly – who was the model, and did you know them? (Pure curiosity) Also, is the piece set by the sea or a lake?
All in all, wonderful composition and equally beautiful execution. Then again, from you I'd expect no less.

The model seemed to be awaiting something -- repeatedly shifting his stance and occasionally moving forward with hesitant impatience. The weather at the time was strange: heavy fog had limited our visibility to no more than half of a kilometer except for in the direction of the Sun; haze blended everything else into a sort of inconsistent glow. He unfailingly faced the Sun -- kinda like he'd expected something dramatic from its otherwise stagnant hang -- and, yes, evoked a sort of tense feeling that caught my eye. I don't think that he was aware that this shot was taken (I don't remember his shifting his stare, much less his awareness) and, when I looked back to where he'd been standing before the fog'd lifted, he'd left.
Melodramatic narrative aside -- its colors are mostly natural, actually; the fog filtered all but a few hues (all of which I curved towards a slight green). I was afraid that desaturation would harm the gradient above the water (which, on that note, is that of the Pacific Ocean).
Thanks for your words. I've looked forward to Annalysis regarding this piece in particular for awhile!

Thanks -- that joyfully killed the sort of pensive/sullen mood of the shot.

No need to apologize; if anything, I should thank you. I shall forever hear the silent echo of "Short Shorts!" within my mind when dealing with any sort of religious symbolism.
