So wait, wait, wait, you created separate layers for both the skin and skin shadows?
Did you drop the two layers into one?

KitsuneChan66 In reply to KitsuneChan66 [2007-08-08 20:07:09 +0000 UTC]

I just do the entire skin on one layer.

I miss having Painter....but it costs so much..... :longing:

Yeah, I used to color like that--use separate layers for skin AND skin shadow. I should make another tutorial though cos my coloring style's changed over the years lol.

do you usually sketch the picture on paper with a pencil and scan it in or you do you draw the whole thing on the computer? I dunno, I can never figure out how people draw so symetrically on the computer...>< I think it's just cuz they have more talent with drawing straight and perfect lines...O_o I really wanna cg again after reading this...but my tablet refuses to work....- -

Great tut! It may seem dumb, but I never thought of using the detail airbrush I started in painter using the acrilics... well, it's not been a long time since then

The smudge tools (or similars) are on the blenders category - my personal fave is the "Just Add Water".

Thank you so much for this tutorial! ^____________^ See, I love this style of coloring and I wanted to get better at it. I myself am using Painter Classic (but I'm saving up/begging for cash for IX Painter..) but I don't get exactly what i want.. i do have a few questions though--because you are now one of my idols for cging--what did you use to paint it with? Like.. what settings with the paint and all.. and what type of brush.. does that make sense? ^_^; and I'm still a little confussed on coosing a shading here with the eyedropper. I've heard about it before, but I've never really got it.. can you explain it to be again please?

*bow* Thank you veyr much!

hinan0 [2005-09-29 17:04:51 +0000 UTC]

Wow you do al lthat without the smudge tools very impressive

But if it helps, the smudge tools are that brush that looks like an eraser im having a brain fart and my painter programs on another PC but its like white I think its like the "edit " or "modify" or "touch up" or something along those lines, and in there theres stuff like add water or smear which give you the smudge/blur effect

animeart In reply to ??? [2005-09-29 07:07:10 +0000 UTC]

can i ask if you do use a sketch how do you make the image transparent so you can colour underneath it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

evanescent-adoration In reply to animeart [2005-09-29 11:03:56 +0000 UTC]

I explained that in the beginning, but maybe my explanation was bad..

Since a scanned picture is automatically set as a background (and you can't change the layer mode, which really sucks) when you first open it on a program, you have to select the whole picture and copy/cut it on to a new layer. Then, you can change the layer mode now, so click that and change it to multiply. After you have that layer set as multiply, create a new layer below it, and now you can finally color XD
