A curious critter!!! It has a big brain and a surprise forked tongue. It's also nocturnal. Idk how iridescent feathers work but figured I'd give em a shot. I also don't think sapient dinosaurs are even possible but I gave that a shot too.

This isn't any sort of alternate-timeline or "more evolved" troodont - they lived during the mid-Cretaceous around 100 million years ago. The premise is that our fossil records are horribly incomplete, and that many incredibly odd and fascinating creatures might fly completely under our radar, lost to time. Did they have language? Were these creatures primitive hunter-gatherers, or did they discover farming? Did they organize as family-packs or did they form primitive empires? Did the presence of incredibly dangerous megafauna make any civilization impractical? Could those weird, hypertrophied fork tongues even fit in their mouths?

I guess the manipulative, grabby tongue is important to the premise because, as soft tissue, it would almost certainly not fossilize easily. So, even if we had found a fossil of one of these guys, we wouldn't know for sure that they were capable of changing their environment - only that their brain cases were rather large. In addition, they may not have allowed their own corpses to stay around, cremating them instead of letting them be picked by scavengers. As a result, evidence of the cogiraptor is scant to non-existent.
