That doesn't change the fact that Scourge is okay.

I'm actually pretty surprised Scourge knows about her in the first place. I mean, she wasn't even able to take on recognizable form until about 10 minutes ago (in comic-time, of course) and even Sonic had no clue about her even though he was staring straight at Vinnie's ghost during her first appearance.
I'm sure that I'm not the only one who's creeped out when a guy says "Sshh!" right before he reaches into a girl's head and rips the soul right out of her body. The slightly more skull-like appearance really adds to my view of him being an absolute sicko in this universe...but then again we can't always help the way we look, so maybe he gets a pass on that one.
Another thing that's completely stumping me is why Vinnie hasn't tried to re-inhabit her body before this. If she's been floating around aimlessly for two weeks and her body has been there for about that same amount of time, and she led Silver to that spot, why hasn't she made any attempts to do this on her own? On the last page if she'd said something like "It finally worked!" I'd understand, but she acted like it was the first time she'd seen her body. Not trying to quibble. Just trying to work out things in my head.

Scourge was tailing Sonic and Silver in Issue 11, and was witness to Vennie's first attempt to contact them. When he saw her again here, he's bet that she must be important to these people he's fighting and thus would be a good hostage/"human" shield. This scene was so fun--and creepy-- to write!
As so why Vennie hasn't tried inhabiting her body before, it's because she's mostly stuck close to Silver since she became a ghost-- in the hospital in Issue 11 after the fight with Metal broke up and the parents arrived, she was probably too disoriented and weak to do or notice much of anything. The first time she saw her body after the parents took it out of the hospital to squirrel away in the aquatic mine was in Issue 12, and she didn't actually know she COULD re-inhabit her body-- this was all an accident. And as we saw at the end of issue 12, she was hiding from her parents even after Sonic was revealed. She's got her reasons for not approaching them for support, but that'll come up muuuuch later.

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. Except for one little minor detail: Vinnie specifically tells Silver she has to show him "something". She's physically (or...astro-physically) been through the giant electronic door and seen what's on the other side, not to mention she also said "It's right up ahead", so whatever "it" is either hasn't been revealed yet or she was talking about their parents and her body (the latter of which was my assumption until now).

True-- she didn't stick to Silver like glue once they were back at the mansion (he'd been sleeping there for several nights at least, so she could feel comfortable leaving his side to explore). She likely discovered the vault and their parents in the time between Sonic and Silver arriving at the mansion that night, and Silver calling Sonic to tell him something's up (Scourge was playing pranks on Silver to get him to do just that, so he could ambush Sonic). Vennie didn't go down to investigate her body by herself, it comes down to her own fear of her parents reaction and not thinking that re-inhabiting her body being an option. She wanted Silver to back her up, at least.
...When it comes to exposition, my general policy is to not cover it if the thread of the story works without it. That usually means leaving out the specific actions of secondary characters, unless whatever they're doing is essential to what the main characters are doing. It's a tough thing to balance, and I often drop the ball.

Ah, so most of the explanation for why she was hanging around Silver rather than anybody else is left for the next issue once things settle down.
True. It's much easier to give secondary characters more depth and movement in story-format rather than comic-format. I suppose that's essentially what these comments are for: so that you can expand on the occasional topic that needs expanding.
Also, I'm really surprised nobody has commented that Vinnie ought to yell "Quit jerking my chain!"
