Ghosts of the Future, Issue 16 page 6.I wrote a lil thing on Patreon for this, so I'm gonna copy it over:
Ooh, here's Sonic's monologue. This page, and the idea it conveys, was pretty much the reason this story happened despite not being directly related to the overarching plot. It's very important to the kind of person Sonic is, and in the future, the ideals he's struggling to live up to. Also, it's a HUGE turning point for how Shadow sees the world, though it'll take him another couple centuries to really embody it.
Okida : Does this make Sonic the ghost of Día de Muertos past?
Evan: You will be visited by one ghost, because YOU HURT HIS FEELINGS

But seriously though, that is a really good point. When I die, I don't want people to cry because I'm not with them anymore, I want them to laugh and celebrate all the good times we had! And one day, when their time comes, I'll be waiting right there in Heaven to see them again. Then we never have to separate again. Just as God promised.

I think what Sonic's trying to convince Shadow of is that Shadow is still a good person, or can go on to be a good person. I think that's something Shadow tends to forget a lot. Also, he totally needs a hug as of that last panel.

This is really beautiful page. Shadow’s sadness, Sonic’s reassurance, you really start looking at these two as friends. And considering their history, that sounds unbelievable but it definitely is believable here.
Shadow’s so adorable in the last panel. Do you think maybe you can isolate it without the text?

Some may wonder what Shadow is thinking in the last panel. To me, I say that his eyes have been opened to a whole new perspective of both the world and his friends. It's character development and dynamic characters like him that make this comic one of the best I've ever read.

During Sonic Rush when he first meets Blaze. At the end they have a fight and Sonic gives her a speech on friendship afterwards. I just related that to your statement. I freaking love Thomas Sanders, and I've had that thought before. 😊
