Description

-this tutorial does require you to have a drawing tablet-

-this tutorial works for every version of ps elements-

edit: here's tip to activate your pen pressure with your tablet:

here's a tutorial on how to draw and colour on photoshop elements!

now this is just one method, but there are lots more out there ofcourse

but maybe it's helpful to you

I developed this method mostly through school and it's an efficient method so if it's your cup of tea, you can use it :>

I have used elements for 5 years now and I still love it, it is my foundation hehe

I do use photoshop cs6 more now because I need to use it for professional purposes

elements is and will always be a simplified version of photoshop, so tools like the pen tool, the cmyk modus and various adjustment layers lack, tools I need in the professional life

but it still owns my soul, therefor a tutorial for you :>

and elements is just plain awesome for drawing and colouring hehe

if you have any questions, please ask!

tools used: photoshop elements 11, wacom intuos 3 tablet

Do you have any tips for the sketching bit? I don't know what settings I'm using wrong, but my brush strokes come out nowhere near where I actually put them. It could be a tablet setting, too, but I'm not sure. My tablet always seems to work fine for my friend who uses photoshop more often, so I think its a photoshop trick that I just don't know. What settings do you usually use to sketch?

if your strokes don't appear where you put them then that should be the tablet driver that you might need to reinstall
if you have a wacom tablet, go to the wacom support section on their website and choose your driver and download the one for your specific tablet
if you have another brand then you should find the driver on their website as well
the driver comes on a cd sometimes but mostly that driver is out of date so it's always best to download and install the newest one
strangely enough, tablets don't work well without their drivers
another tip I can give is to plug in your tablet before you start up your computer. I've had this a lot of times before that the precision is off and the pressure too because I plugged it in afterwards
if that doesn't help then perhaps searching in the preferences of your tablet might help, sometimes you can find something called calibration there.
it will ask you to click on certain targets on your screen/tablet and that will set the cursor on your pen tip
I have to do this with my cintiq often when the cursor is off my tip and the strokes don't appear where I put them as you described
in the preferences you can also set your active area of your tablet, you can choose to use the entire surface or just a selection of your surface
the last thing I can tell you is that the pen pressure is something that can be standard not activated on photoshop
here's how you activate it in ps elements:
here's how you activate it in ps cs or cc: macprovid.vo.llnwd.net/o43/hub…
you might have to do this for both the brush and the eraser

otherwise I use a normal soft brush on about 35% opacity and the spacing set to a low value like 10 for sketching

I hope there's something helpful in there (:
