"Many see them as mere decorations, decoys set out to ward away pests. Those who spy upon the fields will see a simple man made of cloth and straw, nothing more. To them, they are just goofy puppets, things that could only scare the birds. Those who know them, though, know that their purpose is not to frighten the visiting crows. They are emissaries, beings who walk between the two realms. They stand post in the fields to honor those who have spoken to them, to bring prosperity to those who have paid for their attention. Their appearances may be laughable, but one must remember that they have walked these fields before man broke its crusty surface. Beings born of root, dirt and crop, spreading seed and blight whenever they choose to. Those who have the courage to strike a deal with them shall receive their blessing, but those who have the greed to steal from them shall receive their wrath. They do not take well to those who cheat them, and they do not take such trespasses lightly. That is when they bring fear, but it is not for the birds. When the light of the harvest moon touches the earth, and they walk forth from the overgrown fields, you shall know the fear they bring with them."

I decided to do a compilation picture of all the scarecrows I posted over the Halloween season. Just felt like it. Wanted to see them all in one place. If you want to know each of their stories or entries, just look up "scarecrows" for the individual pictures
