I have done a number of Earth models as a way to kill time (for some reason I quite enjoy doing these). My latest effort turned out very well, I believe, and I thought I would share it. This was rendered for a game I plan to create over at [link] .Related content

I've updated Earth today based on some feedback over the last week from various sources.
I think it looks a LOT better now.

That's some sweet stuff right there. The textures are really great, and the bump/normal map really give the planet a realistic look. Great work!

looks really well done... pulled it off good but here are some things i dont like
atmosphere... its not there...
and
the light reflection off of the water... around the middle east... it just looks like a plastic reflecting light... but i understand for what you're doing it for and what it is you're not going detail crazy i'm guessing... looks really good though me likes

I actually spent quite a few hours playing with the atmosphere layer, adjusting the opacity falloffs and gradient ramps. I think it's an unfair critique to simply say it's not there.
I may go back to it, though, and see if I can change anything. I do agree with you about the water. Judging by Apollo space mission photos, it looks as if I should turn down the reflection quite a bit more.

i'm not trying to be an ass or anything but for some reason when i look at this and it could just be me but i just don't really see it, i just see what looks like the planet and its not even a major detail its just something that i was looking for and just didnt really see...
but the more i look at that the better the texturing looks... really good job on that
