Description
Back at the beginning of the month, I tried to take some photos of some wild kangaroos , without much success. Not to be deterred, I headed over to Campbell Park Offices on dusk. I used to work there years ago, and I knew that some of the wild kangaroos that lived in the bush behind the building would often come down to graze on the lawns at dusk and I was hoping that they still would.
I was in luck.
These roos are no where near as skittish as the ones at the Belconnen Naval Transmitting Station. I was able to get a lot closer to them physically, which was enough for me to let my 300mm zoom lens do the rest.
I'm pretty sure that this is a female grey kangaroo, but I could be wrong there.

It's funny, kangaroos and deer do have somewhat similar facial features. And behaviour too, actually.

It is cute isn't it? The fur is pretty soft too. I've been lucky enough to pat them at zoos and things.
As for the eating, like I said on the other shot, when all you have is a roo steak, it's a lot different.

"Who, me?" Looks like you caught him like a kid with his hand in the cookie jar.

Given the way she was looking at me all the time, I think she probably thought that's what I was up to

Yeah, it is, isn't it? I'm glad I could get close enough to get some decent shots. I was really disappointed a few weeks ago when they kept getting spooked and taking off before I could get a decent shot of them...

Kangaroos are very skittish creatures. When you're around, they're always keeping an eye on you to see what you're up to, and if you get to close, they take off.
The ones I was photographing last night were braver than most - I was actually able to get in relatively close (as in within 15-20 feet away).
