Description
This is my first "official" painting in Painter. I discovered the uses of this program several days ago, and I'm really liking it. A lot, in fact. So I thought I'd go a little all out and draw something of my own and color it.I tried to go for that uplifting and happy feeling that I know so well from the beginning of summer vacation. Mine just ended, what a pity.
Software: Corel Painter 9 and finishing touches in Photoshop CS.

Thsi is just too cool, like the star in the eye and the sweet tee design. Clouds are great as well, this deserves a daily deviation

The T-Shirt design is actually the Funky Love Bot, or at least it's head, one of the characters from Satellite Soda (the site is down right now, but I hope it'll be back up within the next couple of days).

Very fun! The attitidue is seeping from the picture so well done!
and especially for your first official painting in Painter. I really need to wrap my hands around a copy of that.

Yes, really! It's loads of fun once you get the hang of it (which is really kind of complicated... in fact, I find the user interface to be a pain in the ass). And it imitates other mediums extremely well.
And thanks for the comment!

You know, I think I might.
But not right know, because my vacation really did just end, and I don't need more sadness.

FabianMonk In reply to Toineed [2005-08-25 15:43:27 +0000 UTC]
Well but the drop shadow definitely would be blurry at that much of a distance. Cast shadows coming from normal sunlight are basically never sharp.
Thanks for the kind words though!

Well I must say, you lie! You're stuff is alot fresher than mine. Maybe that is because I know my influences, and those of like mind in my style... but dang man, yours are something else.
Which, I may call upon you soon to do a little something total monk style...

Painter's user interface is kind of enough to make a grown man cry. I also think it lacks some very basic tools (or maybe I haven't found them yet) in my opinion.
But once you kind of get the hang of it, it's a whole lot of fun.

wow, great to see some of your on lines, its been a while.
great job man, love that almost vinyl-esque look to it. it adds a lot of spunk to the pic. you should continue this style and see where it takes ya.
dull conte, eh? i gotta try it out.

Dull conte to the maximum!
I'm definitely going to continue the style. I've already got some ideas, but I have to see how many of those will actually work, and how many are crap.
Thanks for the words homeslice!

FabianMonk In reply to elbooga [2005-08-24 19:23:39 +0000 UTC]
I used the dull conte in Painter to get the rough texture.
Later I added some very minor details with the airbrush in Photoshop, but about 97% of the image was painted with the dull conte.
