Description
Guitarist from "Countess" (a local band) hired me to create a logo for her based on the vague idea of "tree which turns into bats or something and the tree turns into stars". I picked it up and ran with it.I have to admit, I'm ridiculously proud of this piece. I thought of Escher's transformation tesselations for inspiration (those woodcuts of swans turning into sky and alligator creatures popping out of paper and such). Here the leaves turn into bats, which turn into stars, and the roots drip into water meteor streaks.
She absolutely loved it, and I'm glad. I like it when people are happy with the work I do.

Hey I'm in the band you made the logo for, only it's not called Countess anymore, it's called Anatomy of Silence. And 2 of the members are new, including myself, the new singer.
I appreciate this piece so much, and I have actually toyed around with it myself in photoshop. A particular picture can be found on the band's Myspace page... [link]
Thanks so much!

I saw a little bit of it on your icon, looks nice! I'm glad you kept using it as your band symbol.

I think it would be even more awesome as a giant tattoo going down someone's back!

Very cool! It does look like an Escher piece, star-bat-tree-water.
