Description While Argentine yard is one of the biggest classification yards on the continent (behind UP's Bailey Yard in North Platte, NE), it handles a lot of traffic that goes mainly inbound from the west, and outbound to the east (read: stack trains headed from LA to Chicago).

But it does put out a lot of westbound traffic on the Emporia Sub.

Here, BNSF C40-8W #530 and ex-ATSF GP60 #8723 head west down the Emporia sub double main past CP Holliday with a large manifest in tow. The cross-over and turnout form the beginning of the Topeka sub.

Man, my Sigma lens just has bad reflections at full zoom...

Canon EOS 30D
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6
ISO 100 @ 1/250, f/8

I think you photographed this train better than I did. I hear you about the Sigma lens...

You really think so?

I love my Canon so much more than the Sigma. Although the Sigma does have that extra 100mm...

If the Sigma had image stabilization and a bit more speed, it would be a killer lens. As it is, one really needs a tripod to zoom all the way in unless you're shooting at ISO1600 in afternoon sun.

Aye, the lens shake just destroys the clarity, but I think a wider lens diameter would help that.

I bet you're right about that.
