Then she sees them. Figures lurch closer in half crawl to stay low to the ground, concealed by mists of water vapor just thick and white enough to hide slow, fluid movement, enchanted to dampen the sound of footfalls and knocking bones in motion. They move in from front and behind, and right and left, numbering four and five, then more than half a dozen, and then more, all converging on Avora’s place at the side of the table.

Carefully, with practiced ease, Avora lets the sudden fear of her situation melt through her and down into her arm, to the hand that holds the Wand, and there it is met by a fire of desperate will that crackles from the weapon’s tip like distant claps of thunder. The faces of the horrid figures become visible, and the wizardess recognizes the bodies of a small mob, dead of age, fatal wounds, and a sorcerous draining to convert their half-living shells into preserved agents of a madman’s will. The figures bare grayed teeth, stretch clawed limbs, and raise rusting weapons toward her as they advance.

“A good move, Sorcerer,” Avora breathes in restored calm, a slight grin of anticipation curving her lips. “And now it’s my turn.”

Okay, this wraps up Avora's appearances in Twisted Plot Part 2. Before I get Part 3 complete and published, I need to push Web of Betrayal forward a LOT. Before I do that, however, I need to add in a little cameo that will set up a rather cool and supplementary publication to this whole project. Five more pages and TP Part 2 is in the bag...
