Please note, this is my take on what the seawing species would look like if they could possibly exist! Read the notes below to find out what I kept and what I changed! Seawings are going to likely be the species in need of the most changes. I dont know the exact time dragons started evolving in the context of this series, but I think at this point seawings would be far more evolved to life as a sea creature. In my mind they show far too many land dwelling traits.Just letting everyone know, I turned the colors down for this one, as natural colors for seawings in real life would be far too dark in places. I wanted all of you to see the actual sketch, which is what I was originally going for.
-First thing about seawings, they would indeed have short legs! Aquatic animals loose their back legs through evolution and their front legs turn into fins. Assuming seawings are still undergoing evolution at this point in time, this would be accurate!
-Their wings would be shorter and more powerful. They would mimic fins more then actual wings, growing more muscular because of the needed strength to push through water. I believe this may still allow them to fly, just not for a long period of time.
-I made the webbing on the chest longer because if this were to be used for mobility, they would need it to be longer at points and shorter at others. I beilieve they would have the ability to fold these webs down when not in use (not just relax them, I mean pull them against their body completely, similar to greyhound ears).
-I fully support the powerful thick tail, but I believe that seawings would have some form of tail fluke, perhaps not this big, but you get the point.
-longer fingers for more fin room, this was a small change.
-I kept the biggest scales around the neck and even added a few smaller ones. However I think seawings would be in the process of loosing these scales and instead gaining thick blubber like skin. This is because I cannot find an actual fish with scales anywhere near as large as a seawings. It is impractical when moving through water.
-Smaller, more aro/aqua dynamic head with horns tucked farther back. Spino like snout for getting a strong grip on slippery fish.
-It is in my opinion that they would have less bioluminescence because of how much energy it can take up. Likely used as lures, attracting mates, and scaring certain larger predators away.
-I do think their color schemes would make since, it just depends on where they would hunt!
I hope you all enjoy this little scientific look at what the seawings would POSSIBLY look like in real life!

I think dragons wouldn’t have front legs at all in the first place. I think that the front legs would have evolved into the wings like a bat but bigger, smarter and scarier.

That is something I actually considered, but after doing some digging I found that the fish most terrestrial animals evolved from did have 6 fins. In our evolutionary history that fish lost those extra fins when coming onto land, but whos to say it was impossible for those fins to evolve into 6 limbs? Granted, it does seem like the world of WoF is a twisted version of our own, meaning there really wouldnt be a need for extra limbs, it is possible.
Thanks for the feedback though, I might do something like that for skywings when I get around to them!
