you must be kidding right? little variety in Greece? hello, your country probably is one of the largest or richest Archipelagoes in the world! with over 400 islands, i'm sure you have more variety than Malta. if you make just a little effort i'm sure you find new interesting things to see everyday!

crete. The lizard variety is big. We have five species of non venomous or low venom snakes. A big variety of birds if i could find a place where they arent hunted and..I cant think of something else.. I suppose im lucky to have that! At the moment i cant travel greece or else i wouldnt be complaining!!
I am aware of the animals that exist in mainland i just cant find anything particularly interesting about crete in particular!

Crete is the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean, so its pretty big compared to Malta. I am very aware of an endemic species of Dragonfly which only occurs on Crete [link] , but its found in one locality and its pretty rare. I assume there's are a bunch of endemic flora on Crete, being such a mountainous island, not sure about other Fauna there, need to check. yep, the lizard species on Crete must be endemic too. hunting is main problem even in Malta, but we are visited by a large variety of birds here. not so many endemic flora in Malta, 24 in all, but 700 indigenous ones. not so much large Fauna here either, one endemic variable lizard, and the largest wild mammal here is the wild rabbit! loads of insects and arachnids here though.

when it comes to mammals its not that bad even though as i said earlier hunting is a big problem.
Oh when it comes to flora i know this and that, we do have alot of endemic species. Its just that my interests are limited i guess.... Insects would be the most interesting subject i believe.. Here though we have a larger mammal, a mustelid to be precise, a subspecies of a european marten i think...
Unless the sites got it wrong!
Malta.. Hmmm... Thats a place id like to explore.... After i got a proper camera again and learned how to search for interesting pics in the right way!

we do a have a mustelid too, which is the Weasel, though pretty scarce locally. may e you should visit Malta one day, i think you will like it. For my honeymoon I'm going to a few islands on Greece, though i forgot which ones, need to ask my wife again
