Description
**IMPORTANT**
I have been getting comments about whether or not using liquid nails is safe. I don't know. If you're not comfortable using it, don't use it. I used it and I'm ok, but I very rarely wear them. I would not suggest wearing them frequently. Furthermore, The liquid nails worked alright at first, but I found the teeth would fall off after a bit. I'm still trying to find a way to adhere the teeth to the retainer successfully. I have tried hot glue and super glue, neither of which worked. I will update if I find a more successful adhesive. Thank you, take care, and be safe.
Said that they used hot glue to fill in the gap and then super glue to hold it in and it worked well. I havent tried that but it worked for them!

Here's a tutorial I whipped up on how to make fake teeth for cosplay

Are you attaching the nails higher than the trimmed retainer?

The tops peak slightly over the retainer but you can still see a bit of the retainer where the nails meet in between

I need some shark teeth and I'm considering using your method. I have a question, first off, since it has been a long time since you posted this, any chance you have found a better way to glue the nails to the retainer and just forgot to update? If not, I was wondering how long it took for the nails to start to fall off. Also, is the retainer uncomfortable, and do you talk funny with it? That was a lot of questions, sorry. But I really want to know everything before I try this.

If you make the retainer for you properly it shouldn't fall out or be uncomfortable. It may impair your speech a bit.
You could try using epoxy (you HAVE to wait for it to FULLY cute though, epoxy is very toxic when hardening but once it's cured it's practically non toxic) you could really try any adhesive that's nontoxic. I haven't tried making more teeth since so I haven't tried other things. Some nails fell off immediately, some nails fell off a few months in and many didn't fall off at all *shrug* good luck making them!

These are perfect! They're not way too big like some of the others I've seen.
I think these will do perfectly for the Rin Matsuoka cosplay I'm planning! Thanks ^ ^

It should! I'm unsure about how colors other than black in waterproof eyeliner last or if there are any toxins or chemicals to make the colors, you may want to do some research ahead of time! But in theory it should work.

Just a few quick questions about this:
1) Did you have to use any type of poly grip with them or is the dental fitting pellets enough to make them stay?
and
2) This may seem like a stupid question but would you recommend taking them out before eating?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Faxen In reply to AskUchihaMadara [2013-09-27 02:22:20 +0000 UTC]
1) Nope its form fitted to your teeth so they should stay on nice and tight like a retainer
2) Yes, definitely take them out before eating

the plastic beads I use are also non toxic. It's the adhesive I use that there's some debate about.

Instead of using Liquid Nails I used hot glue to fill the nails up and then glue them on. It didn't hold very well, but after they fell off I left the hot glue in them to keep them built up.the gap filled, and then I used the glue that came with the fake nail set to apply them to the wax. It seems to be holding thus far. I'll keep you updated on how that works!

The nail glue seems to be holding quite wonderfully! I've had my set of teeth in for a couple hours now - talking, wiggling my jaw around, even drinking a bit of water. Everything seems A-Okay!

What an awesome tutorial! Just a quick question: with the dental molds, do they stay in place pretty well or do you reccomend putting denture grip on the inside for an extensive wear time? ( a day or so of con)
thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion The only problem is its too similar to superglue, which is too thin to fill the space between the teeth and retainer. I appreciate the input though!

so I was wondering as far as fake nails go could you just buy the clear-ish ones?
It says yes, but would I be looking for ones that are white-ish, or are ones like this alright [link] {adtype}&kpidrod6016882&sst=4c60012d-988e-42c8-3b5d-000037b6fe3f
Also if those are good, do you just put the liquid nail all over the beck and fill them up?
