Description The development of my original species the Siderian (Northern horse sized big CATS).

I took Stian (of course...) as example because he can clearly show the influence of different hormonal levels in different developmental stages...with his fur extremes and powerful body .
However,Β  as I updated this overview - I realized that he never reached old age, so he is not the best to represent the Siderian developmental stages.

They are full grown around 30, but sexually mature around 16. Oh and I've changed their name for a year or two ago; it's siderian now.

How big is the newborn about?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to TheLOAD [2012-03-10 18:36:36 +0000 UTC]

Good question actually...I can only guess that and I still have to find a method to determine that more precisely. Therefore I need to know what percentage of size a new born kitten is compared to the largest feline or a feline species that gives born to only one kitten per litter...hmm maybe I knwo a good source to figure that out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TheLOAD In reply to FelisGlacialis [2012-03-10 18:41:45 +0000 UTC]

I looked it up and i think tiger newborns are between 1.7-3.5 lbs and females can have between 1-4.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to TheLOAD [2012-03-14 11:52:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh ok thanks! I will also look at it - since bodyweight of teh adult and kittenweight might be lineary and the littersize also matters, so I will look if I can find graphs of all felids (I think it will be in one of the scientific books I have about felidae).

Tsubakini [2012-01-15 11:32:25 +0000 UTC]

They don't grow up very fast, they must have their "parent(s)" around to raise them, unlike most big cats that get big in less than 2 years. They're very pretty, I love their huge paws and fluffy tails <3

FelisGlacialis In reply to Tsubakini [2012-01-21 19:55:56 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!
Yep indeed, that is where fantasy comes in ^^ Almost everything is the same as in 'the real world' - as for the biology of my felids...however on some points evolution went a bit different due to the pressence of a mysterious flow of energy on Earth. Only one genus in the felidae familily got the skills to manipulate this source of energy and this rapidly increased their lifespan and the complexity of their brain. The cheederian belongs to this genus (Metafelis), together with two other species. I actually still have to think more in detail about how exactly their lifespan became so much longer than in other cats...but maybe I just say; this is where science stops and fantasy takes it over ^^

Make him brother or sister? well, he is the 9 years younger brother of Goran. I have not very much resent drawings of Stian's brother, but I'll submit some charactersheets soon (including Stian's family)

This looks completely great - I love how he changes as he gets older, and Stian as a toddler is simply one of the cutest things I have EVER seen XD!
Haha, my Krovendraekk are a bit of a mystery as far as reproduction goes - they're not mammals, but no one knows exactly how they reproduce, whether it's like birds, reptiles or something else entirely As for cubs, they basically look like tiny versions of the adults, but with shorter legs, neck and heads, and big paws Their eyes are open and they can walk, but as for speed and agility, those are in rather short supply
(they often trip over when running as they haven't quite figured out how to use their legs yet )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to zephyrwolfen [2011-01-16 20:35:40 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!! Ha really?? Yeah I've indeed a crush on the young Stian <3
Ha I'm curious how your KDs reproduce acutally...especially because they are no mammals 8D

zephyrwolfen In reply to FelisGlacialis [2011-01-17 17:51:24 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome ^^
And yes, I can completely understand why XD!
And haha, I'm not entirely sure yet myself - it's one of the few aspects of the species I haven't pinned down yet Perhaps no one will ever know - Krovendraekk like privacy with such matters XD!
As for cubs, they can eat solid foods from a very young age since they have a full set of (diamond) teeth Much less sharp than those of the adults, but still not something you want to start chewing on you

FelisGlacialis In reply to SueaNoi [2011-01-16 20:30:38 +0000 UTC]

Wooow echt supervet dit! Het loopje dat je ook geupload hebt trouwens ook! Dat mensen hier trouwens een wolf in kunnen zien...beetje een belediging voor de Cheederians haha

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to Mimysse [2011-01-16 20:24:08 +0000 UTC]
