Description
Al Mi'raj may have been based on true creatures... sort of. Apparently in the middle east, there are parasites that can affect wild rabbits, making their hair mat up and look like horns. The rabbits are then a little crazy from pain and discomfort and become very aggressive, even attacking people and larger animals. The Al Mi'raj were said to be carnivorous and vicious, killing and eating humans and horses alike. To get rid of these creatures, villages had to pay large sums to travelling "witches"-- probably scam artists who made a pretty penny on the myth!Related content

It's not just in the Middle East; it's happened in Britain and the US too! (The photos are freaky!) D:

The Al Mi'raj were considered middle eastern monsters, though, probably because of the "witches" that propagated the myth.
