The bird's nest was a great idea.
And this painting has a very gentle, sincere feel.

Kinda late on saying this but, I really love this painting. I miss my Grandma terribly too. She had yellow roses, not just because she loved them, but because yellow was my grandfathers favorite color. Very nice. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.

The bird's nest in a teacup is an unexpected combination. It makes me smile, and draws me in, wondering where the bird went. (Probably raiding the bread basket.)

thanks! i suppose the birds flew away, leaving behind their nest, their home empty. it's a little sweet and sad i think, but that's how my memory of my gram is too.

i just mix a lot of the paint and try to keep it wet by spraying it with a squirt bottle set to "mist"... failing that i use washes of very thin paint and blend it that way. for blending i really do prefer oils, though.

What an amazing paiting! Very realistic. The cup actually looks like china. I can almost "feel" it! Lovely composition as well.

That's a good piece of work Nice to see you move back towards the surrealistically edged type of realism that I was so impressed by in your college work

thanks... it's not so much that i ever left it behind but that i have been trying a lot of things out. in college, all i did was make art... nowadays far too large a portion of my time goes to the 9-5labor that pays my mortgage and the vet bills. hence it looks like i haven't done so much of my realistic painting... sigh...

I've never been in a situation where I could just paint all day, with the exceptions of a couple of weeks - wish I did. 'tis horrible trying to create art after a long day at work, especially when you have to do some multitasking with everything else

it is hard to get motivated after you work all day. i hope, someday, that this is my full-time job and i can quit worrying about the 9-5!

An alluring and regal piece
Your very clear and strong emotional will is transfered to the viewer and hits them with layers upon layers of artistic stimulus.
A beautiful tribute and a wonderful piece.
