Description
Done! This is the next installment in my tutorial series, this one goes over how to do a mother mold. You can use Ultracal or plaster, I just prefer Ultracal because it's what I have and it makes for a rock solid mold. You'll have to follow the directions on whatever product you use. I eyeball it EVERY time, and can say that being a little too runny or a little too thick really won't make a noticeable difference in the outcome. I always make mine a little more runny for the mother molds, it helps it soak into the burlap/gauze better. I use colored burlap just because, that's in no way necessary.Feel free to ask questions I didn't cover fully!

So do you just sculpt the main part out of any kind of clay?

I don't have burlap strips (Or know what they are really..) Could I use resin plaster cloth (Plaster Paris. You know, that stuff they use for broken arms xD) instead? It's cheaper and easier for me to get a hold of C:

Yeah, it would also probably be easier to use plaster gauze. It will not be as durable or as resilient as Ultracal though.
Burlap is a fabric with a relatively loose weave that is absorbent. I use it because it's very cheap, and is thick enough to not need several layers.

I know it won't, but I can't get burlap. ANYWHERE ;A; Resin Plaster takes a few more layers, but it's not that bad >w<
