This tutorial was excellent!
This is the first one I've tried making so far: City of Lights

Thank you for your great tutorial!
I think zscale on T1 has to be -0.6!

Yes! Thank you so much. I was so confused as to why I was getting what looked like a holographic projected fractal, with a light cone coming up from the bottom. Changing zscale on T1 to -0.6 FIXED IT!
You beast!

How do they achieve the more solid colored gem that doesn't have the transparency that I seem to come up with??

I had the same issue and increasing gama seemed to be the most helpful tweak.

The transparency really depends on few factors - the weight for hemisphere xfrom, the bigger the more visible
Also the amount of Pre_blur, more blur more solid
The angle in 3d effects the solidity as well, apo 3d does show the transparency better, closer to 2d, flatter angle will give you solid.

Thanks for this tutorial..it was quite helpful! Here is a link to one of the resulting fractals that I've done... [link] My tilted versions have a way to go before matching up with yours, yet. It's been fun playing with it!!

hemisphere is a build-in variation, in same panel as julian & curl

Gahh, finally tried this out.
I went a little bit crazy for my first try, this was actually my first fractal using 7x so I was kind of delirious with happiness when making this: [link]

There probably will be. I'm liking the interface of 7x compared to 2.09 and the 2.08_3D, I'm looking forward to creating more fractals with 7x.

I'm having difficulties using this tutorial actually. Nothing I'm making, following your tutorial exactly and adding extra transforms is turning out anything like what you have made. I have a decent grasp of Apo as well.
I've tried different gradients and I have tried moving T1 and T2 for different results and all I get are gems, mostly transparent, hard to see, mostly black space, no details of the rings. All numbers are the same, all variations are the same... I don't get it

Fiery-Fire In reply to LiquidCandyRainbow [2012-03-12 03:38:04 +0000 UTC]
I really have no clue, why things are not working out for you.
The best advice I have is - start from blank flame again and see what happens, without looking at what you did previously.
Many people tries it and they posting images...sooo Im not sure why you not getting results.
