Description This piece is a mosaic of a dreamcatcher. I used ripped pieces of bright paper out of old magazines to achieve the mosaic effect. It's probably the largest traditional art piece I have -- had to scan it in three pieces and then put it back together in Photoshop. Not much else to say... I like dreamcatchers and rainbows... that's about it.

Wow, that's amazing... I love the whole effect... the feathers on the bottom look great, like as though the light was shining in and producing all those tones, really pretty.

Izzybel, thanks you for the comment Frankly I didn't expect the feathers to come out that well, by the time I got to the feathers I was very much in a hurry to finish and started to tear the paper and glue it on in a very haphazard manner. Good thing that the feathers are supposed to look ... well feathery and messy. It's an old piece but I still think it's the best I could do in getting the colors to look good together. Ever since then I wasn't able to reproduce the effect.

I always hated it when we had to do a collage in class, but now I'm starting to think I shouldn't have.
Great piece, I love it, it's so detailed yet "messy" (in a good way^^). And those feathers, I can't believe its done with only shreds of paper.
Keep it up!

This is amazingly beautiful! Ah, I own two dream catchers myself - I quite like them! (Not the movie though).

Really interesting technique for such a piece. It really does look good.

It's from a Steven King Novel - it's alright - but goes all mental crazy. I never read any of his books - was never inclined to do so - but I believe the review I read about him years ago that he is indeed a trash novel writer.

Hey, malita, didn't expect you to comment. We should pick out the frame for it already and put it up -- perhaps this weekend or next if we get a chance?

Thanks, Aliesaw. I like working with bright colors, couldn't really get the colors to be that saturated with other non-digital media I tried, like pencils or ink -- only with CG

13shadesofblack [2004-01-17 08:25:07 +0000 UTC]

So how long did this take? It's amazing, though I don't think I would ever have the patience to create something this intricate and detailed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

firefly-wp In reply to 13shadesofblack [2004-01-17 20:18:39 +0000 UTC]

It took about three evenings and a ton of glue to finish. Had to find enough old magazines to "recycle" with the colors that I needed. Otherwise I would have probably finished it a day early. If I was using pencils or paints to finish a picture that size, it would have been at least twice as slow.

firefly-wp In reply to Virdilak [2004-01-17 20:50:35 +0000 UTC]

Hope you like the medium, it's pretty fun. Also it allows you to use much brighter colors than the pictures done in color pencils or watercolors -- that's why I like it. Good luck with your idea.
