Introducing the Southside companies of St. Denis! Engine 2, Squad 1 protect the Southside, Downtown and Industrial Districts of St. Denis. Engine 2 and the Squad are the 2nd busiest firehouse behind Headquarters, with it's vast response area and the heavy mix of buildings, occupancies and other hazards, Southside has made a name for itself being a reliable and well rounded firehouse. From training to fires and emergencies, Southside will always find themselves in the middle of anything and everything they can get into. Engine 2 was has a very rich history in firefighting activity in the city. Founded in the late 1870s as a volunteer brigade, Engine 2 has been first due to some of the most historical fires of Lemoyne County and New Liberty State. Some of these fires and emergencies include the Star Gazer Cruise ship fire, the Lemoyne Fertilizer plant explosion, The St. Denis hotel fire, The Lookout Peak dock collapse, The floods of South Denis, The riots of the 90's and too many more to name. Squad 1 was formed in the 1950s as a manpower company but in the mid 1990's due to budget issues and poor leadership from the union and city hall, Squad 1 was disbanded and remained closed until the department was able to secure state and federal funding. Squad 1 is a city wide company along with Rescue 1. Squad and Rescue 1 make up the Special Operations Division with support from Ladder 3.Engine 2 and Squad 2 are 2023 Pierce/FES. Engine 2 is stands combat ready with a 2000gpm pump, 500gal. booster tank and a crew ready to work.
Squad is a 2024 Pierce/FES Snozzle Squad with a 55 foot boom and a 300gal. booster tank for the "what if's". Squad 1 duties are primarily in truck and rescue operations as well as RIT capable.
