Despite being a katana, this zanpakutou looks a little bit straighter than other katanas I've seen. Its curve is less pronunciated.
Could you please give some tips about how you made it? I have to do it for my cosplay and I've seen quite a few models so far, each one made in a different way. I guess this one is the best

That is the first Sode I did , my curves have improved since then. This is the third and last version. [link] I forgot to do one with the ribbon. I am currently working on a tutorial on the Unreleased version. It will feature all the steps to making a blade.

It looks amazing. I'm going to use a real katana as a model because my curves just suck. Oh, and when would that be finished? It would be very useful ^^

I'll do one next week. It is a simple thing to do, but kind of difficult to explain clearly.

Really? Any ideas how you make the handguard? It's kinda...unusual.

It will be made of segments like an orange. I just have to work out the angles. The fun part will be the hacked up blade.

Yeah, letting it look naturally torn might be a bit tricky.

Most of my swords are recycled maple. Sode used to be a bed.

Don't compare my work to yours. Remember I'm a lot older, more experienced and have better tools. For your age yours is very good.

Here is a list of all the tools I used A table saw, jig saw, miter saw, scroll saw, belt sander, palm sander, disc sander, hand sander, drill and a steamer box as well as clamps. Your best starter tool is a table saw, the belt sander is used for all primary shaping and will take some practice to use. If you have a shop class in your school this would be a great project. Oh for a good source of maple look around in your area for thrown out furniture. maple is the usual framing for couches but if you find a bed jackpot. Practice on spruce.
Just out of curiosity what is 8D?

You don't need all them, like I said start out with a table saw. You can get one of under a hundred dollars. It took me years to get all of those.

Try the thrift shops they have a huge selection of clothes that are pretty cheap that you could alter. Like I said there is no rush to get all the tools. I use them for my business that is why I have them. Their just good things to know how to use and you have plenty of time to do it.

Going for bragging points, eh. All I'm going to do is go around Animethon with Samarai Squirrel in a black robe on my shoulder. Mind you I'm also thinking of doing anime stand up with Adamant Barrage.

Yeah he'd be easier since you can buy the coat, hell I'd buy one they look great. However you do look a lot like Ichigo or to keep them guessing go as Kenta Usui from Karin.

Thanks, I never thought that I really looked like Ichigo~ But Alphonse would be a lot easier to cosplay as. I am probably going to buy all the materials, use my friend's sewing machine, and get it done in a couple of hours. Do you have msn?

The sword is maple The handguard is double layered 1/8" maple plywood and the handle end is cardstock. There is a long list of tools used. What did you think of the rest?
