Description
This is the final tutorial on the cosplay katana. If you wish to use other wrapping techniques go to Chioky's site, ,This katana doesn't have a sango knot. If you want to do a sango knot there is an excellent tutorial of Pirate Captain's site,

Then you can try this one. fixinman.deviantart.com/art/Co… You can make it with just a razor knife. Plus the same techniques can be used for this. fixinman.deviantart.com/art/Ha… Have fun and let me know what you make.

if i wanted to make a sword and sheath seporately, do you reckon i could use something like canvas board for the sword and then sew a sheath or something?

Check with Chioky and Pirate Captain Both have excellent tutorials on making swords and sheaths. Pirate Captain has several Youtube videos to give you very detailed instructions on all steps using just hand tools. I also have some in my tutorial gallery.

Wow...I see what you mean!
For the sake of conversation (I'm not big on katanas, but some day I'll make a Yamato) would it be possible to make a katana, blade and sheath out of similar materials?

You might be able to make it using foam board. Foam is used to make a cosplay that is one piece and cannot be drawn. For the record these are made of foam Board.

I look at all your Katana tutorials and whilst it makes me happy to look at the beauty of them, it makes me sad that I will never have either the skill or materials to make one for my own...

It actually is as easy as I say look in a building supply store for the foam insulation, it is widely available but be sure to use the solid foam and not the beads.

But even with the materials, I have no skill. I'd probably accidentally slice my finger off with a piece of foam or something ridiculous like that.
No, I'm more than happy with admiring other people's handiwork
