Description
This is a tutorial on how to make a tsuba or hand guard for the foam katana. It is made from 1/4" spruce plywood. Plywood is used because the layers make it easy to carve to different depths and is much stronger than regular wood, but should not be used if carving is involved. If you wish finer detail use maple plywood. It is not as good because the layers are thinnerFor an excellent assortment of Bleach and other tsubas go to Chioky's site
If you want to make wood katanas refer to Pirate Captains site He has a great series on Youtube.

Thanks. Let me know what you make from it. The technique can be used to make almost anything from katanas to guns or what ever.

I started to use plywood ater I broke the tsuba of my Sode on the first day. Also the layers make it easier to carve.
