I have a question :3 Can you use the front legs for the back? Im just wondering *cause Im super new to all this stuff* and its adobe flash right?

anon11250 In reply to EmeraldTahWolf [2013-09-11 22:14:12 +0000 UTC]

You wouldn't use the front legs for the back because the front and back legs look different.  If you really wanted to, you could move the front leg parts to the back.  And yes, it's used with Adobe Flash.

So is it okay if I can make a movie using these? i'll give you credit! Also, my movie has to do with some certain background ponies, such as Derpy, Doctor Whooves, Octavia, Vinyl, Lyra and Bonbon. How do I animate them and what software should I use?

You have to select the puppet, then under properties (to the right) turn the alpha off (under color settings).

The-Intelligentleman [2012-12-07 22:42:37 +0000 UTC]

Can you export this to an .AI? I'm vectoring something and Inkscape doesn't like .FLA. Even a .PDF would be vastly helpful.

~Thanks

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FlamingoRich In reply to The-Intelligentleman [2012-12-10 09:05:47 +0000 UTC]

An illustrator file? That won't work because this file is more than just a picture - it's a fully rigged puppet that's meant to be animated. Opening it up in any program other than Flash will destroy the rig and leave you with nothing but a nice little picture.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Intelligentleman In reply to FlamingoRich [2012-12-10 19:42:48 +0000 UTC]

I don't plan on animating it. I just need to be able to manipulate it in Inkscape to get certain poses right. Essentially a 2D pony manikin.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FlamingoRich In reply to The-Intelligentleman [2012-12-10 22:48:04 +0000 UTC]

Same thing - that's basically what animation is anyways. We just "save" those poses and add more poses on to that to make it move. Without flash, the puppet won't be able to move (it's composed of layers upon layers of nested symbols).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Intelligentleman In reply to FlamingoRich [2012-12-10 23:00:30 +0000 UTC]

"-_-

And I don't have an obscene amount of money to drop on animating software that I can't even use. Not because of a lack of proficiency, but because I don't feel like shoehorning it into Linux.

Could you try the conversion anyway? Even if it doesn't work out properly, I might still be able to use what is there. I could make SVG puppets for those who animate in SVG, like *MisterAibo .

neko81795 In reply to The-Intelligentleman [2012-12-31 04:34:02 +0000 UTC]

He gave you a fully functional Pony rig, which he has spent countless hours on, so that you or anybody else who wants to use it can, which cuts down the time and effort it would take to make what ever you are making. and you want him to put forth more work to export his creation for animation to a file format that isn't even close to animation, just so you can make a comic? If you are going to make a comic, there are plenty of other people out there with Rainbow Dash SVG files. go bother them instead. or use his images as a base and create the SVG puppet yourself (be sure to still give him credit, they are his images after all)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Intelligentleman In reply to neko81795 [2013-01-02 04:45:00 +0000 UTC]

It's fully functional for those with the proper software for it. I lack the software. I never intended on using it for a comic. And all I asked is for him to save as an .ai instead of .fla. Why would I go through the trouble of making a .svg puppet if one is nearly available, with the only problem being the file format? I'm asking for him to click "Save As" and type ".ai" at the end instead of ".fla", which isn't much. He's simply worried about compatibility. If you'd like do the conversion, please do.
