Description Simplicity CirclesRainmeter System Monitoring Skins

These skins require Rainmeter beta 2.1 rev 863 or later.
You can get the latest beta build from Rainmeter.net:
[link]

I'm a big fan of Kaelri/DarkPain-AHK's Simplicity Rainmeter suite. [link] [link]
I'm also a big fan of the Roundline meter.
So I had a go at combining the two.

These skins are extremely configurable, and all of the options are changeable through the "Settings.ini" skin. You can change the size of the circles, the width allowed to the skins, the font sizes, and all of the colors; besides user specific information like the weather code, media player, and drive letters. (22 separate variables in all.)

Simpl(icit)y Circles contains the following skins:
Background bars - vertical and horizontal, and double-size variants.
Battery
Hard Drives (3)
RAM
SWAP
Upload
Download
Wifi status
CPU (total usage and Top Process)
CoreTemp (cpu temperature and speed)
Core Load and Temperature (4)
Recycle Bin (manual and auto-empty variants)
Time (Time first, date first, and weekday variants)
Weather (gives today's forecast, and current conditions on mouseover)
Media Player (currently returns song name, album title, artist name, song length, and song progress, but only has Play/Pause control)

Credits due to:
- original inspiration
- help with code
- help with code
- NowPlaying.dll

Some notes:
Changing the skin size - The circle size automatically scales to the "height" variable. When changing the size, I would recommend changing the height, then the font sizes, then the width.
What's up with the weather skin circle - The circle meter in the Weather skin shows the current temperature, relative to today's forecasted low and high temperatures (it uses those values as MinValue and MaxValue).
The Recycle Bin skins - Both skins use the variable "BinMax" to calculate the circle meter. But the "auto" variant silently empties the Recycle Bin for you if the size exceeds the "BinMax" value.
NowPlaying.dll - I highly recommend doing some reading here [link] if you're trying to get a specific media player working with the "Player" skin.
"This media player skin is useless!" - Well, yeah, nearly. I'll work on adding some more control functions later. Hopefully some buttons that show on mouseover.

Any and all feedback (comments, questions, suggestions, etc) is greatly appreciated.

Its a very nice clean skin! Any chance of adding GPU skins that read from Afterburner?

Hey Hyrax,

This is a great skin, works very well with the minimalistic layout I'm going for!

Having problems with the CPU circle though, when loaded in I get an immense level of lag - if it helps I am running a 16 core - 32 thread CPU, I am unsure whether the code has been made to compute the average efficiently enough or not.

Hopefully this helps!

Trying to get the Core Temps to work, but it just won't give in. I have CoreTemp running. Any suggestions?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

FlyingHyrax In reply to AppearanceX [2012-06-15 17:24:36 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I'm not sure. Is CoreTemp itself returning correct values? Also, you could try playing around with the "CoreTempIndex=" values in the code for the skins - it should start at 0 for your first core and increment by 1, but perhaps the numbering is funky. I'm not that familiar with CoreTemp so I can't say much for certain.

Sorry I can't help more, and I hope you get it working!

Nevermind. Figured it out. You have to download and install the actual program and run that in the background for it to work. I feel stupid. Lovely and elegant skin design by the way. Thanks!

So after poking around on the forums, it looks like the OHM plugin is stagnant for the moment and more than a bit buggy. It's possible to get GPU temp with the Speedfan program, but that's it - just temperature. Any other information about the card would have to be entered manually, and you would have to define the indices yourself. So this is doable, it would just be really barebones.

iskariotA666 [2011-12-21 04:58:23 +0000 UTC]

Is there any way to add GPU temp ??

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FlyingHyrax In reply to iskariotA666 [2011-12-30 15:56:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes, there are a few plugins that could (maybe) be used for this. There is one for ATI HD series cards and an Open Hardware Monitor plugin. However these plugins aren't included by default with the Rainmeter program, which is why I didn't make a GPU temp skin. I can work on it, though.

For some reason, the CORE's 1 thru 4 is not working for me.

Do I need something special for them to work.
I am a AMD Phenom Quadcore 940, soon to be upgraded to 980.

Did I do something wrong.?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FlyingHyrax In reply to MagmaTung [2011-10-10 23:09:54 +0000 UTC]

You need to have Coretemp running for the skins in the Porcessor/CoreTemp folder to work.

Glad you like it Windy17!

Make sure you hit enter - click the letter 'H,' type the letter 'E,' and hit enter. (If you click outside the text box before hitting enter, it cancels the input.)

Very strange...
Instead of changing the value in the Settings skin, you can change it manually by opening "Documents\Rainmeter\Skins\Simply-Circles\_Shared\Settings.inc" in a text editor - you're looking for Drive1, Drive2, and Drive3.

Two issues with yor installer..

1. States that is only for Rainmeter version 2.1.848.. while that is what I have installed.. AND..

2. Gives and error stating there is an error in the config file..

The is end result was.. NO INSTALL.. found two lie this tonight.. the other by WhiteBaron.. could be a glitch of some sort?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FlyingHyrax In reply to heath28m [2011-07-15 15:27:36 +0000 UTC]

Hi heath28m, sorry you're having problems.

It's odd that you're getting a message asking for version 2.1.848 - the actual required version is 2.1.0.863. I just double checked my Rainstaller.cfg file and that's what I entered the version as.

I have to think that it's a problem on your end, considering that you also had a problem with one of WhiteBaron's skins and that I haven't had any other trouble reports yet.

My only recommendation is to reinstall Rainmeter (actually pretty painless since it keeps all of your settings) from a fresh beta installer off of Rainmeter.net. If the problem persists after a reinstall, we'll have to ask a developer from the forums and see what's up.

Your right I had just updated and thought that it was current but someone slipped in with another build.. and I am guessing that was what the second error was about... as well.. anyway I updated it last night after I realized it.. Thanks..
