Basic Manga Studio Tutorial
I made this for because I want to see how she tones 8D haha
I'm sure there are other ways of doing the things I do and some may be easier 8D;; I'm not a master at Manga Studio, but I do have a basic understanding of how it works.
I also know there are other tutorials out there.
Some ways of teaching works better for different people... hopefully this one will help somebody that other tutorials couldn't help... >.<;
I've found that some people think it's the easiest program ever, while others look at it and give up... so I hope this helps someone out there.
This is the first tutorial I've made... so I apologize if it looks messy, or if it's way too big @_@
I know... I should've made 2... but I'd rather just create one big one >.>;; Sorry about that.... lol.
And, just so you know... this will eventually be replaced by a nicer-looking version in the very near future

How do you delete the original lineart so the pencil isn't seen after you finish with the lineart?

When I try to import a picture it imports like side view, how can I put it vertically how it I originally took the photo? (because i do not own a scanner)

are tones there when you get the program? I looked in my tones
select and it has none i keep getting a message asking if i wanna install new
materials like tones o.o or are they in another folder?

Usually when you buy the program, it comes with two disks. One of the disks has a bunch of materials on it that you need to install separately. Hope that helps!

Question I got the Windows disk and the Mac disk, is the mac disk supposed to be the one with the materials on it?

importing files? I can help!
so when you import, you'll have a window. click on the image you want to import and if it is a jpeg image, there's a small tab called "file type". click it and choose "jpeg" then the images will become more "black".

Hi! I have a problem, you know how i increase resolution at files manga studio? Now, i save files at 600-800px....

Are you scanning pictures in and finishing them in Manga Studio, or are you doing everything completely in Manga Studio?

I scanning images at high resolution (2000- 3000px) and when i starting to edit in manga studio and save files, the resolution is changing. Yes, I doing everything in manga studio.
You know why happens that?

Try scanning/saving something as dpi instead of px and see what happens. There's really no need to have a dpi higher than 300, so if it doesn't get lower than that it should be okay.
Unless you're talking about the size decreasing... If it's saved in the folder it automatically creates, then it should be the right size for printing (in theory, since I haven't actually printed anything out in this). If you aren't using it for printing/publishing, then the "Export" feature that I mentioned in this tutorial should work to create the size you want.

No working...I'm talking about both, because both decreasing. I have set size at >Print Settings< and no working and idem at the "Export".

I just got Manga Studio Debut 4 for Christmas last year and hadn't use it for quite awhile.
Now I'm getting into it and I'm editing my manga pages with it.
As for the speech bubbles and the text, the program freezes up on me and has a pop-up saying "Manga Studio has stopped working" and automatically closes out without saving your progress! D:
So what do you think I should do? I'm think about finish inking and toning. Then save it as a JPEG and import it to Photoshop CS5 and add the text from there. Ya think I can do that?

This tutorial is really helpful, buuuut... my Manga Studio doesn't seem to do what it's meant to X'D It won't import any files other than Manga Studio files themselves, so I can't open Photoshop files like I thought it was meant to, or even .jpg files

The way you open photoshop files is by opening a new page, clicking file, then import, then image file, choose the file you want, click open, then it uploads!

Manga Studio Debut confused me so much that I didn't understand how to really use it until this year (when I recieved it LAST January for my birthday). Just out of curiosity, is there a blending tool similar to the one in Photoshop? I can't seem to find one.

How do you import the AnimeAce font into MangaStudio? Or if there's a WildWord font, Or better yet, how do you import different fonts onto MangaStudio?

it should automatically import if you properly install the font on your computer

i haven't been drawing and using it lately so i can't check, but you can just use another program to do it in the meantime (if you haven't been already XD; )
GIMP is free and can manage the task

how do you so you're lineart? and what do you do if you want to make a color look a little blurry.. what i mean is like.... trying to make the color look soft.. you can use that method when shadowing pictures.. yah know what i mean?
