Description
Ooh, wow. I don't really know what to say. I think I stopped royally sucking somewhere between 05 and 06.Other than the 2003, the first image in each year is Rivek. Since, I've had him since I was eight. It's interesting to see how he's evolved visually.
Here's the original meme:

Your anatomy, costume design and composition designs are like the most obvious big developments throughout the years.
And it's so geeky/fangirly of me to feel good that I faved at least one of those pics of every year. XDXDXDXD
You never stop amazing me. Always happy to see your work.
even when it takes me like forever these days to say so.

Thanks - improvement memes are addicting, lol. Have you done one?
I try to think of costumes as a combination of practical and showy. It has to be physically plausible, but like... we wear things which aren't practical in order to look pretty. :F

Wow you have so much detail in your art.
I give up halfway when I draw something, there's no why I'd be able to draw with that much detail.
You really improved in 6-7 years! Specially from 03- 05! (With a lot of these memes, most people improved a lot from those years)

Wow! big difference between 03 and now! xD
I can see a big jump in the level of detail, though I think youve always put a lot of detail in. Your anatomy has improved, and you've changed the way you draw your faces. ;D

Lol, omg. You need to see my middle school art. I wanted to be anime. So bad.
I think I've settled on the faces thing by now, since I had to SCULPT ONE OUT OF CLAY EVERY MUSCLE OMFG... And like, for me, it's always a lot about mental understanding that influence my style.

People like... always thought I was in my early 20s since I was in my mid-teens. I think it's because I only use "u" instead of "you" when I'm chatting left-handed on my MSN.
keeps thinking I'm 24, even though we hang out in real life, and she very wells knows how old I am. T_T
1/3 of people also think I'm male. And a lot more think I'm caucasian.

This is really awesome to see! I don't know how you have the patience to render detail...so much respect *bow* I think you should try applying some light CG color onto your pencils(but not taking away from the texture)...add some mood lighting..see how that looks. Keep on truckin~!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
fongmingyun In reply to cypritree [2010-01-05 07:41:44 +0000 UTC]
I'm just a patient person in general. I wish I was more efficient, but like, I just forget how many hours go by. I end up calculating them later and going "... oops."
The flipside is, if I'm not doing anything at the moment, I get really fidgety. Drawing is like, how I handle ADD and OCD. Lol.
Thanks for the suggestions. I hope to implement them in the decently far future. I think I'm going to put 2D art improvement on hold (just sketch to work on stories and stuff). I need to do 3D stuff for job applications. I miss doing color, I just don't have time! >.<;;;;; (biggest problem of my life, lol)

the lines may not be the best, but I quite like your super-old colored pencil drawings. because the coloring is pretty. you oughta try your hand at 'em again, now that you can draw so pretty.

daaaaaaaamn, you have WAY more dedication than I. if a drawing takes me more than one sitting I call it "forever"... four monthes? I WOULD DIE.
out of curiosity, about how long do your pictures usually take?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
fongmingyun In reply to haius [2010-01-05 04:35:50 +0000 UTC]
It was very "on and off" like, I didn't work for weeks as a time.
5-80 hours depending on size. Usually 5 for sketchbook work, 20 for 9"x12", 40 for 12"x18"
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
haius In reply to fongmingyun [2010-01-05 19:33:48 +0000 UTC]
that is some serious dedication. but I guess I've spent upwards of 3 hours on drawings before, so maybe not so much. and of course I never draw bigger than a few inches. so nevermind. XD

omg, I'm so old - I remember being there for 04 I think.
I think you were awesome really early on with pencil pieces so they sort of look similar now, but you've definitely improved a ton with digital painting, and I think that's even effected your colored pencil works
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
fongmingyun In reply to Xellis [2010-01-05 03:24:54 +0000 UTC]
The main diff between my 06 and 09 shading is basically whether I use lines. Then, I kind of didn't know any better. Now, I do it when I'm lazy. ; That's actually the signifier that I think the piece is a sketch - that it is heavily lined/you can see a lot of the markwork.
