I'm trying to draw a jackalope and I was looking at rabbit skulls before, until it occurred to me that jackrabbit skulls might be different - good thing I did that. The nose is so weird!

Helpful picture

Finally! A lepus in your collection I need to buy more skulls off ebay... The fun thing is you can feel all those ridges really clearly through their skin when they're alive.

You mean the networking of thin bone parts on their nose? Or just the overall shape of the skull? Rabbits really do have nice, thin skin.

Man, I can't wait to come across a roadkill rabbit to skin out myself. I've been waiting so long for one in nice enough condition but I'm sure as long as I continue to be patient, I'll have one eventually.

The overall shape It's creepy when you're health checking a live one & you can see the bones through their skin in their legs O.o

I think I have a similer battle with hedgehogs, I always see squished ones, theres never any worth saving >.<

The eye sockets look smaller than those of most mammals I've seen. (In comparison to the skull, that is.)

Really? They go all the way up to the top of the skull (where that little bone ridge is).

Amazing skull, I like the strange honeycomb looking part at the front.
