...or perhaps you just want to quote dAmn chatter in your own journal skin?
updated on July 7th 2008
I've updated the look of the skin so it reflects the changed dAmn. Also included is code to replicate the 'more' popup window - with a working close button that hides it on hover.
If you want the old version, which looks like the previous version of dAmn, follow the old instructions.
Note that the position of the journal's title (the topic bar) will be off when viewing this in v5... v6 here we come!
__________________
This is dAmn #journal, a journal skin made in collaboration between `frozenpandaman who came up with the initial idea to make a journal based on the look of dAmn, and myself, `thespook , who took that idea and fleshed it out into working journal CSS.
After many days of work and the help of the following beta testers it's finally ready for public use
- ~Asphyziata
- ~vaniergt89
- =JurgenDoe
- =Stickmanwww
- ^Ikue
- `ginkgografix
- =popcorn-pops
- =masked-racoon
- =ashescry
One of the features of this journal skin is that it can emulate the look of dAmn chatter, whether you just want to post a quote, or if you want to make the entire journal look like it's straight out of dAmn. See this journal to get the idea.
To make it simpler to write journals like this, @sine-out and myself have written scripts you can use to import copied dAmn chatter.
- devart.koopseht.net/damnimport/ is my script. It's javascript based, and while not having any obvious bugs, it doesn't play nice with IE for now.
- devart.sineout.com/damnjournal/ is @sine-out 's handywork. It's PHP based, so it works in any browser.

Well, you can get yourself a program that can open them (like winrar), or you can just click the link to view the instructions online

well, more two DDs for two halves of a collaboration. It'd be nice if deviantart had a system for dealing with colabs...

Yeah that's right.
It's always "interesting" too see that collab-partner(even if mentioned in the description) are rarely recognized. But it's nothing new that people are too lazy to read.

Why, thank you. Yet it makes me wonder why dA considers programming/layouting/whatever-you're-doing as art and does not for music.

foundsoundfunny In reply to Cleroth [2008-06-19 00:10:08 +0000 UTC]
Ah, you lack subtlety - it does consider music to be art, it just doesn't allow you to submit it.
As for this not being art, interesting for you to say that. While I'll agree that this is a mere facsimile of pre-existing work, as an artist might make a reproduction of a famous painting, I'd like to hear why you think this medium shouldn't be considered art as compared to any other. Have you seen other, original journal designs, by myself or others?

Cleroth In reply to foundsoundfunny [2008-06-19 11:02:23 +0000 UTC]
I never said that wasn't art, odd of you to say I said the contrary. I just don't think who are looking for art in deviantArt aren't looking for this kind of art ... or maybe 0,5% are? I'm not part of those, thoughβif I wanted cool skins I'd go to another site.
There are surely some other creative drawings/paintings/photographs that would need to be shown, which I'd probably like to see in lieu of your grey boxes (in this site, that is).

I've been noticing that a couple of people using this CSS (=ScENeYmE , =Zun0 and =InvaderXJaden ) have the title of the journal, or the 'topic area' moved down a bit. I don't think any extra tags or lin breaks would affect that. :\ Have any suggestions?

foundsoundfunny In reply to frozenpandaman [2008-06-10 18:59:15 +0000 UTC]
v6 is bugging things out, for some odd reason it's making the headings do that. I can fix it simple as pie, but since it doesn't happen in v5, fixing it would mean breaking it in v5 - so we'll have to wait until v6 goes live.

TrendyDNA In reply to frozenpandaman [2008-07-14 23:42:18 +0000 UTC]
One way to fix that for now is:
.journaltop h2
top=26px
it's not a pretty solution although it fixes it for now. It makes the title disapear when you preview your journal. But it shows up just fine on your page, and in the journal.
You can check it out on my page. I've changed the X icons to use emotes as well.
And added dates/titles to each post.

Try doing a web search (on google perhaps) - and search for the file extension, 'rar', and see what you can learn.
Alternatively, you can view the instructions in your browser by using the link I provided in the description.

I would like to add that your instructions are like "CSS for Dummies" and pretty much idiot proof. Thank you!!

This is the most I see of dAmn's interface, so this should be my next CSS if that time will come.
