Alder's Prelude - Mix Up Part1Here is another black an white comic short. This is another two parter.
I was originally not going to post the black and white version, but it's kind of becomes tradition. Also there is an art project I need to finish off. Nothing complicated, but I should finish it up.
This is kind of a joke at people who just seem to feel the need to have to advertise their baby's gender with clothes. It just seems like people are just terrified their baby girl might be mistaken for a boy or vise versa.
Ashien here doesn't care that people are making this mix up. It's just confusing her. You'll have to wait for the conclusion to this.
This song is what I image Ashien humming as a lullaby. "Going Home" (from the Bleach Original Soundtrack) I heard this song and it just goes well for this.
For any one that knows and those who don't. Those are the cheerleaders from Negima. I like those characters and i just put them in there for a cameo. I like Sakurako's urge to know if Adler is a boy, Madoka is more matured and polite, and Misa just wants to hold him.

LOL. Hilarious. I remember I did that once to a woman in the supermarket. She had a baby in the cart and it looked like a little girl because the hair was long and sure enough, I was wrong it was a boy! I was mortified. I loved this segment Kris. Btw, almost got a beta copy of 11. I'll let you know when its done. Production is taking time but soon enough. Great job on Adler. I like this comic a lot.

It's best with someone's baby to just as baby and wait for the parent to give a hint about the babies gender.

Very nice work! And that about confucing him with "her".... I think more (Or a lot more) than 1 anime/manga character went trough the same problem.
When I had long hair some people thought I was a girl (The they saw me from far away ,and some other made my life misserable for that simple issue but well 
Still... Good job here. It reminds me that I got to start working on my own comic.

Sweet! I love Ashien's expressions in the first panel. (by far my current favorite character) XD Also the cameo rocks, keeping well within the personality types of the three girls. I just feel sorry for Adler... or not. Probably the youngest pimp in the city right now... Now if everyone'd just get his gender right...XD

I'm fond of cameos. When I was doing this comics I wanted to make some group of girls approaching them. Girls are normally the ones who approach a mother and child to ask about the baby. If a guy did that it would just be creepy.
Don't feel sorry for him, because he's so adorable girls constantly want to hold him and play with him.

Kind of silly how people always have to gender classify things like that. For some reason people can't go with gender neutral terms like, "baby" and wait for the parent to drop a hint for gender.

Heh it may sound strange but I like that granny, she is very elegant something I don't see very often among Old woman. I live in a village so most of them just wear ordinary "folk" clothes. Such an elegant older woman is an interesting change for an eye.
Heh poor little foxy T-T Abandoned on the bench in fourth panel, he must feel lonely there. But Addie probably wanted to run to his mummy since those strange, large, over-excited monsters came XD
Heh ya know... that black-haired girl in fifth panel look a bit like Hyuuga Hinata with those big white eyes and such a blush.

The cat mouth thing was kind of unintentional, but it really worked for the mood.
The granny was kind of an experiment. I don't have my experience in drawing older folks. I was going for a classy elegance to her.
The toy isn't abandoned. That's the blanket Ashien spread on the bench for Adler to lay on. He just set it down there for whatever reason to go and crawl over to his momma's lap.
Modaka is kind of blushing, because the idea of a cute baby that looks like a girl, but is actually a boy really strikes her as cute.
Part 2 is almost completed being drawn. This first panel just has a really complicated background.

Another true to life story! My second oldest daughter was fair and appeared to be as bald as a cue ball until she was walking and talking. People mistook her for a boy when she was wearing a pink dress and matching hair bow... It didn't bother me either, but I thought people were pretty daft not to notice the girly clothes.

It's a little more understandable in Adler's case. Just by the length of the hair and the gender neutral clothes.
Most of the stories about Ashien and Adler as a baby are based on popular baby jokes, things I've noticed, and stories from my mother.

It's no big deal. He's a baby. Only thing that really tells you from the outside that a baby is a boy or a girl is the hair and clothes.
You may notice that while Adler, when he grows up, has his hair cut short in the back he keeps the bands in the front almost the same.

Well, being a girl, i wouldnt want to be seen as a boy when i was little unless it was like a cute/hot boy.

Hey take your time, let me put it this way. I HATE black and white comics normally... Sin City being the only real exception. So for me to say that I thought this was awesome says a LOT. Can't wait to see the finished product.
