Adler's Prelude - CraftyHere is another color work for Adler's Prelude. Here we get to know some more about Ashien that might surprise a lot of people. It sure surprised Andria.
I've had this idea for a while. Just seems kind of ironic. One who doesn't wear clothes, normally, is talented in making them herself.
Here we also get a look of Ashien when she was about twelve years old. I was going for a sort of "rice paper" texture on these flashback panel. I really wanted to sell that this is the past. The texture didn't turn out as well as I would like, but still came out pretty good.
Not sure many will pick up on this, but Yuriko is just waving. Seems she's learned to wave, and Adler's finding it so interesting.
The setting is a play date for the kids in Ashien's home. Explains why she's dressed like that, or should I say 'not'?
I'm rather pleased with the coloring of this page in general. Lot of little details and in many of the panels the backgrounds were completely digitally made. It can be kind of tricky to get that tatami rug look right.
I'm wondering if anyone will notice the pattern of Adler's kimono is based on.
I look forward to everyone's thoughts on the picture.

Yep. I always liked Sesshomaru. Ash is a nudist mostly. She's more wearing a top becasue her friend is visiting.

i wonder if either of them have noticed the ironic fact that yukiko actually looks more like a boy than alder at this stage. i wonder if andria ever gets confused admirers like ashien did.

At that stage you can never tell a baby gender unless they are clothed. Andria does more often dress Yuriko in girl clothes.
My favorite shot in this has to be the fourth panel with Adler clinging to his mother. Ash gently soothing him.
If people haven't realized yet that Ash is bisexual, then they will soon enough in the short story I'm working on right now.

i gotta say, you put a great amount of detail into these comics.
your's is the type of art one can look at time and time again and find something new each time.
i didn't suspect that she was bi-sexual, but i'm not surprised either. she seems like a very... open-minded individual.

Sexually, Ashien is extremely open minded. I almost wanted to define her as omni-sexual sexual, but I don't think people would completely understand. Where she comes from not everyone would be defined as "human".

I almost define Ashien as a hentai character that feel in love and had a child.
Sex was mostly just about fun to her. She didn't care about gender, skin color, how many eyes or arms, or whatever. Not that she didn't have standards. It just had more to do with the personality.
Though she only had a relationship with one person, Adler's father.

I just used the prefix "omni" because it simply means "all".
In a way you've already seen Adler's father in a manner of speaking.
Adler looks just like his father. Though Adec was taller and more muscular. Adler is a bit on the short side, and he got his mother skin tone and hair color from his mother.
There is a greater mystery behind a lot of these characters that I haven't gone into. From Adec's insane durability and lineage, Ashien's dark childhood, and even why Adler got his mother's hair color.

I haven't settled on everything in Adec's appearance.
Personality is much easier to explain. The man was an idiot. Though he had a very pure heart. If I was to describe him I guess you could compare his personality to characters like Kamina and Luffy.

I always liked Sesshomaru's kimono. I thought it would really cute on Adler. My favorite shots on him in this are when he's scared by Andria's scream, clinging to Ashien; and watching Yuriko wave. In that shot I wanted to show that Yuriko learned to wave and Adler is fascinated by it.
I'm currently working more of these. In this one it will be a multiparter that explains where both Yuriko and Adler got their names.
