Alder's Prelude - Over Protective part 1 (color)This episode has Ashien taking her son to the park after the events with the TV. Now to try and explain things a little bit. Ashien didn't have the best parents. Most of her life she was a fighter. She has no idea how to be a mother. She's just going on instinct, and for her that leads to extremes.
This was all going to be one comic, but I chose to go with a two parter so I could go into more detail with the pictures. Look forward to part two where this concludes. I have a good one about his first word planned, but I wanted to get this story out first.
In this colored version you may notice some changes from b&w version. I changed the sound effects look and the placement of some speech bubbles. Nothing major really.
I was going to color Marshmellow as a German Shepherd puppy (my favorite breed), but I thought a Husky would be better to the name would match his light color. Also the blue eyes looks so friendly.

overprotective or not, it's refreshing to see parents who actively try to act like parents, and not bumbling fools or uncaring dead-beats for the sake of the plot.
heck, you even kept her alive instead of killing her off as a source of angst!

That's the fun of writing for Ashien. She's a kind, loving mother. She screws up a lot, but never means harm.

That's Ash's biggest problem. She knows nothing about children. Before she discovered she was pregnant children actually made her nervous and normally avoided dealing with them.

Yeah, as a first time, young mother with no real knowledge of what a mother does she's a bit paranoid. Like the butterfly may have diseases and that puppy is a little too cute. Like it's up to something.
She learns her lesson though if you read the next few.

Aw Marshmellew looks absolutely adorable! I just wanna get in the comic and hug him tight! But the comic is funny. Details for the background are nice and love the coloring.

Y'know, there is something kind of sad about these little comic strips? That sad thing is, a fictional mother is more attentive to her child than some real life mothers.

No worried about Adler. he's tougher then he appears. Just look at his mom. She'd never move him in such a way to harm him.
Ash isn't the perfect mother, but she is very loving. Also he is all she has.
