Description It's finally done (maybe)!

The head was the first one I did. I was trying to combine a honeybee with a quite basal tyrannosaurid, which I guess is cheating (bees are not crustaceans). It was less than successful.

Then I did the upper right one. Much more successful than the honeybee, using this amphipod for reference: [link] The photo actually was taken by dA's ~half-scientific , though I found it elsewhere. Go look at his gallery, it's seriously awesome.

I did the upper left one third, and it is based on a brine shrimp. [link] Halfway through it I realized it looked a little like the Xenomorph queen from Aliens. That was in no way intentional and I regret it slightly.

Then after a significant wait I did the bottom right one. It was based on this arctic amphipod I came across while I was looking for reference. [link] This is by far my favorite of these theroshrimp, even though it isn't technically based on a shrimp.

You should probably download it to see the details.

Very interesting designs! I like all the legs and spines, looks like something quite threatening, or confusing to predators.

Thanks! Yeah, I imagine most predators would think twice about taking on some of these.

Everything looks like the xenomorph from alien, so I wouldn't worry too much about that!

I saw you start the top right one, nice to see it finished.

Oh, I'm not worried about it. At least, not about any copyright issues. I just wish it hadn't happened because this was actually an original design, and now no doubt people are gonna compare it to the xenomorph.

Oh well. At least it wasn't intentional.

These came out awesome! Yeah, I'm definitely getting (Alien) Queen vibes from top left...Also thinking that those swimmerets could double as gills (or, you know, analogous respiratory gas-exchange surfaces).

Bottom right is definitely my fave--spiky amphipods are the best, and really the only way you could make them scarier is to bestow upon them speedy bipedal locomotion. I was also thinking a while back that some of the crazier amphipods (Lake Baikal-stylee) might make nice ankylosaur and even aetosaur analogs. But that's a challenge for another day!

Another thing I noticed while I was looking at these after I uploaded them, was that both on the right have the same number of limbs in the same configuration. Distant relatives?

When I showed these to one of my friends he started talking about them being war-mounts for Orcs. Now I HAVE to do that.
