Description Now, before acting like a fucking dumbass, read the entire description.

Why? It taught us values.
Granted, it may have but it also taught us hatred and intolerance towards people, see the big past for example, salem witch trials, Templar crusades.

It won't get rid of anything!
Yes, it may not but it would get greatly reduce bigotry, racism, sexism and all the other things, and we'd be less divided. And yes, there'd still be jackasses around like Stalin for example but at least less people would've died, because we'd have less motivations for things like the Holocaust, WBC, etc.

And what would this exactly accomplish?
We'd have advanced research, space travel, cures for deadly diseases (stem cell research), ability to regrow limbs (stem cell research) and many things stem cell research would have.

And what would we lose?
Holidays and death tolls, to be honest, it sounds like a fair trade, especially since I don't celebrate holidays.

I'm not saying that religion has caused all problems, I'm just saying that we could do without it because mankind used it wrong, and if you want to do it right, just focus on love and tolerance (no pony reference intended) instead.

I pointed out that the person who made this stamp has the opinion that we should get rid of religion. I don't actually agree with them, even though I'm an atheist, but I'm not going to call them a child over it. That just makes me look stupid and doesn't help my opinion at all.

I do agree with you, though. Religion may have done some bad things, but there's no reason to get rid of it.

Although some scientists predicted that religion will be gone by 2025.

Science declared evolution as "fact" But broke all the rules of science to declare such a thing, since none alive have ever witnessed evolution, then it must then be replicated as is required to be called a fact as far as science is concerned. So why would they call it fact when it has not met the requirements? Well, because they are trying to stamp it "approved" box it and and sell it as the correct way of thinking. And just like many religions they broke their own rules to do that, and have been banging the drum louder than any religion ever since. One Scientist even said "Evolution is correct because its the only thing scientists are studying." In other words "We win because we are popular 'Among the tiny scientist community' not because we're right"
To me this sound fanatical, this whole "Its a 'fact' just cuz..." is embarrassing as a TV evangelist coning people for money. So by rights, some main stream evolutionary defenders are behaving just like disciples of a bad religion, telling you to believe even though it hasn't actually been proven as fact, that's called "BLIND FAITH" and its despicable, so should be abolished as any religion by your set standards.

Faith in a God that is good is one thing, but believing in the God who is in the Bible and calling him good it hypocritical.

Considering that fact religion has been around longer that research, space travel and cures for diseases...I disagree.
Religion has been around longer than most modern science techniques (Well duh), so you can't walk into the house of someone who's religious and tell them what they believe in is wrong without looking like a douchebag.
And not every person who believes in something that isn't scientific or necessarily logical is an idiot. There ARE people who ARE religious and total douchebags, but it doesn't always have to go with religion. Atheists can be douchebags, too. And both sides choose to base it off their choice of subject on the matter. Religion isn't a disease, in fact, it's always nice to believe there's someone who does these things to test you, make you better, and who loves you. For people who are socially awkward or alone, this can be vital. Walking up to them and telling them their God doesn't exist makes you worse then you portray them to be. Religion just makes people feel important. you don't need to give everyone a "reality check" if their lives are working out. If they aren't harming anyone, why do you care? Not every religious person is the spawn of Hitler.
You're targeting something many people hate when those people overall actually aren't idiots. Neither are atheists, but that's what you're portraying them as. Religion got us into the tough shit, but so did a lot of other things.
Religion causes death tolls to rise: please tell me you are trolling right now. Just because a serial killer is a Christian makes the religion a slaughter. Atheists kill people too, believe it or not. and a lot of people celebrate holidays, you don't have to ruin it for the rest of us. Honestly.
And racism or sexism doesn't always revolve around religion. some people are just like that.
Also, I don't see how your argument made you look any less of a dumbass.
Lastly, before anyone gets mixed up, I am an atheist. but I can defend religion, I don't think it's stupid or anything. It's just a way of life.

"...However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way..."(Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

luckyangelproduction In reply to NightSkiesRavens [2013-04-03 17:55:20 +0000 UTC]

Slavery back then was much diffrent than the slavery we had during the civil war. often slaves were people trying to work off a debt, war criminals, criminals, or prisoners of war. They were also treated better than the slaves during the cicil war were. They had their own food, water, and shelter. Sometimes they even had more than that. Once again we also dont live in the old testiment. Jesus coming to earth made most old testiment laws null and void.
