Description - - - - - - - - BASIC DRAWING TUTORIAL - - - - - - - - - - -

Although this isn’t a how-to-colour tutorial, it shows you a little bit about the process of how I draw. As I typically draw chibis, it’s hard to figure out a perfect head-to-body ratio or something that at least looks half decent. SO! Although my style isn’t perfect, at least you can take a look at how I make them. Also my intention wasn’t to draw Blossom, but the sketch I drew ended up looking like her so I decided to roll with it.

Explanation:

① An artists’ best friend, the stick figure. It’s crucial to find a pose that will suit the character, so I typically sketch it out using one. I went for a super simple pose for this tutorial as I didn’t want to overcomplicate things. The ratio that I usually go for is 2 heads since chibis are known to have rather large heads. Sometimes I’ll go 2½ depending on the character.
② Afterwards I tend to fill out the body. As you can see, I draw the body parts are very geometric. I like using shapes in order to get an idea as to what I’m looking at. By sectioning off each part of the body with another shape, it gives you a very good idea to reference.
③ Once I know how the pose is going to look like, I start sketching out the character. I can make another tutorial about how I draw faces, hair, and mouths later, but as you can see it works very nicely for me.
④ Lineart. I hate this part, only because I always love my sketches more. But it is crucial in order to get to the finish product. I don’t use any specific brush size as I like a mixture of both thick and thin lines. I’m very experimental when it comes to it.
⑤ ANDDDDD COLOURRRRR! Alas! We are done! Everyone colours differently, but I tend to stick to the lazy/simple side of things. Yayyyyyy!

So here you go! Another tutorial! As always, if you would like to see any other tutorials posted, please feel free to send me a message or a comment and I’ll get to it as soon as I can.

Yay! I'm so happy!
I wouldn't be doing them if it wasn't for an assignment.
So I'm beyond happy that these are turning out great for multiple people!
