wow. guys really. i cant even begin to start. or finish. or whatever. i am so blown away by the response, really I am. this is the response anyone would like when they've made a painting.

Beautiful work. I especially like the way that the hands are so heavily textured, while the rest isn't, although it might not be meant as such, it gives some exposition. Also, excellent facial expressions... i'm guessing it took quite a while to get them just right... do much experimenting? I also like the way the hair is just so fluent, it could just come off the screen. The shadowing and imagery created by this are just beyond belief.
Nice exposition, too. The clouds and the rocket-like objects coming from the ground show that it's a troubled society, and the heavily clouded skies, they could show a world where pollution and environmental damage has created a sort of permanent storm.

What I believe makes this piece of work stunning is in what it lacks...Rather then showing some over played out moment of drama we get this "snap shot look" which in itself tells a story (at least in my head it does) With a title such as this one, "The Heavy Unit", the excellent use of shading, a simple "The Iron Giant" robotic design and a beautiful pose there in lies a story (or at least I was able to make one up from the moment I full-viewed this image)
The story I see in my head is a simple one (but has much potential to become a more profound story) :
In the future, robotic technolgy has advanced and so has human cruelty. We've devloped robots who's sole purpose is to slave to our everywhime however one robot has become self aware. He devolps feelings and understands the suffering that they are under going and is not only saddend by this fact but also sad for humans and how they live accepting such cruelty. He holds the burden of everyone (this explanes the title ''The Heavy Unit'' he holds the pain of everyone on his own shoulders, alone) and the girl in his embrace in the picture, has also become aware of this situation. And both of them form a type of Resistance to this, and in this pertuclar moment they are seeing their work unfoald (a bomb planted on a small moon who's only purpose is to create this type of slave robots, which the self-aware robot is) He/she is sadden by this moment for it was as if you were seeing your own birthplace burn to ashes before your very eyes. But somewhere inside thoes artificial eyes hold some hope for a change in human nature (this is why the girl also seems to have a "heavy" look in her eyes as well) This "snapshot" is just final moments as they look back to see their past burn before them, as they make their way to the escape ships (hence the missle-like object shoot racing in the sky behind them) Its the few fleeting moments they have in each others protechtive embrace.
Of course I could advance this plot even furthen and tweek it (from making it a "robot fighting for freedom" to more of a war story, like one between humans and robots)
Well that's the plot story that I envision from just merely glancing at the picture....now imagine what I could do if I had more time ^_______________^
You should feel very proud of yourself, I haven't seen a stunning picture like this in a while, this is certainlly going into my favs

Wow... I just love the amount of emotion in this ._. Their expressions are just... whoa. And the lighting! And depth! So awesome. I love how parts of this have a very painted feel while others feel more like that of a pencil drawing... Very, very impressive.
