Nice tips! Drapery sure is tricky! Too many wrinkles and it may look akward, too little - not enough details. Thanks!

If you would be so nice, could you help us on wrinkles from puckering (as in say... pillow seams or button-tuffed furniture) and also the kind where clothing is hanging, but reaches and slays over the floor...

I always have trouble with those two.... and reference doesn't help much due to being so complicated.

Thank you

I would be happy to. Can you send me some samples of the materials.
This would make it easier for me to explain.
When it comes to pillows, furniture, etc. I pay more attention
to the underlying form. Drapery will conform to what's underneath.
Once you get the base, then you can start to think about the type
of material draping over the object. Different materials take in light
differently. Example, satin glove vs leather gloves vs mittens.

well for the first one, it would be like this: [link] [link] [link]

I have trouble making those wrinkles and folds without getting too detailed... I usually get too detailed and then it just turns to a mess.

the second one like the bottom part of these: [link] [link] [link] that awkward change from drop or pipe to inert folds...

I usually have no problems with general clothing, but long, dragging dresses really get me as well as furniture-based wrinkles... like a mentioned in the first one.

Thank you very much for listening to me.

These are close to what I was taught. That fold marked as a half lock, doesn't look right. This is the curriculum they teach us at AAU [link]

Badass, dude. Thanks for this.
The last part, thinking of drapes like water, helps a lot.

No problem. Always happy to share what I know. I'll do one on values with drapery. It's basically like painting boxes and cylinders. Writing up notes on hands and feet. Looking through my old notes from when I was in school.

No probelm. Happy to share whatever I know. You're ready. Just throw a towel over something and sketch it. A lot of drawing ideas are not difficult to understand. Just takes a lot of practice.
Happy Paintings
