Description
Ok, I know this is going to come off as more subjective, but considering that some have been complaining about the nostalgia pandering yet they want the Adventure Style to return, it's just flat out hypocritical to me.Yes, I'm sick of the Nostalgia Pandering myself; however, if the Adventure style has to come back, then the safest bet would be to remake SA1 and 2. Let's be honest, If they were to make a new title now with this gameplay, it will most likely bomb in reception. Not to mention, Sonic Team hasn't made an Adventure Styled game since 06, which scarred the formula permanently.
Plus, with the likes of Crash N Sane Trilogy doing extremely well last year, why not give the Adventure games a fresh coat of paint? Just take both games and fix up the gameplay, story, update the graphics and music, and add somethings like 06's free mode, for example. If this remake does do well, it might give more confidence in Sega/Sonic Team and the fanbase since they've show that they're capable before moving advancing forward.
I guess it's still a risky move because of the Nostalgia Pandering complaints, but if an original Adventure title just came out, Adventure fans would lose their shit just like the Classic fans did with Sonic 4.

I have to disagree with Unleashed because I found the Werehog a lot more exciting than the daytime stages.
Also, whenever Sonic tries to take his stories too seriously to where one character is funny, I just get bored. I realize that's a super unpopular opinion, but I didn't grow up with action TV shows or video games. I grew up with Mario instead of Sonic.

I like the Werehog more than most too, but I LOVE the Boost in that game so much. Too many intrinsic flaws to make it my favorite, but I really enjoy it.
I can understand that, but Lost World's story is just...subpar. The Deadly Six aren't interesting villains, the game assumes we know more than we do, Tails's arc is as contrived as can be, the jokes are even lamer than in Colors...I really don't care for it. I'll take Unleashed's story over this anytime. Unleashed is a far better serious/comedy blend to me.

I perfer the humor in Lost World than in Colors, honestly. The cutscenes where Sonic was talking to the boss robots got really old, the worst one being in Aquarium Park.
At least the Deadly Six actually spoke, making Sonic's interactions with them kind of humorous until Zor. I only found the one with Zik to be weak.
Favorite points from each.
Zazz: "That's funny, cause I know the perfect spot to kick you!"
Zomom: The sight of Sonic getting hit with a sandwich.
Zeena: "No, I meant to say that I'm so sorry that you have nothing better to do in life."
Again, my favorite out of all the Deadly 6 has to be Zor, if only because of his dialogue.

The Deadly Six were awfully one-note. I did enjoy the interactions, but not the characters. And when I think cringy stuff in Colors, it's more the Sonic and Tails stuff, not so much Sonic talking to the bosses or Eggman.
I don't have a favorite Zeti. If I had to pick one it'd be Zeena, but not for her character, I can tell you that.

Eh... well to give Colors some slack, that game was the first of its kind in terms of the lighter writing.
I think Colors has aged in terms of writing though. Only Eggman himself holds up, Hell his plan is pretty fucked up when you think about it.

It's always the most cheerful games that have the most fcked-up stuff going on. But I agree. Eggman and a few of Sonic and Tails's jokes. Which is why I don't bother with the cutscenes. Colors, Generations, Lost World, skipped 'em all when I was playing.

What did Nakamura write? I know he wrote Forces, and that the Japanese script didn't reference torture at all. And Forces's story was either very rushed or didn't have enough game to fill out all the ideas they had for it.

He also wrote Silver’s Story in 06.
I’d say, for Forces, there wasn’t enough game honestly. It’s a shame because I think it’s better than Silver’s Story honestly.
Here’s what I’ve noticed with him, he has good characters, but the stories he writes them into are either eh... to bad.

Heavily disagreed on all that. I /still/ find Colors better. Honestly, I want them to bring back Pontac and Graff to give these characters good personality other than: "We're just heroes on a mission to save the world", which we've seen in many other TV shows, movies, and video games up until that point.

Colors works because it's nothing but jokes. Lost World tries to be more serious but the jokes don't blend well at all. One scene Zavok's giving his big bad speech and Sonic is all 'NO' about it, the next scene Sonic's calmly explaining it to Orbot and Cubot like 'that's horrible' to lead into comic relief. I just don't feel like it works.
Also, Knuckles does NOT have a personality under Pontac and Graff, I am sorry. He has like 5 lines across Generations and Lost World and all 5 of them might as well be the EXACT. SAME. LINE.
To each his own, though, I'm the one that unironically loves Boom, so there.

I love Boom just as much. But I really can't take this series seriously when I have no recollection with this series aside from knowing who the characters are.
I guess I'm just one of those people really doesn't care what they do with this series as long as it's fun. That's mainly what I look for in video games compared to everyone else that just complains about everything.
Also, if you want to blame anyone for why the other characters get so little development, blame the rabid Classic fanboys for getting at SEGA to scrap everyone except for Tails and Knuckles.

Sonic X was my first proper foray into the series. I can appreciate both sides of the coin. I liked Colors' story and SA2's story just the same. I'm fairly easy to please. But the story needs to make sense regardless of tone. Lost World and Forces do not fit the bill. And I couldn't care less about the story so long as the game is good. Which is why I never discuss the story when I talk about what direcion I want the series to take. And personally, Unleashed, Colors and Generations (the Unleashed trilogy if you will) are as fun (gameplaywise) as 3D Sonic has gotten for me. But I understand that the Boost is getting stale and that Sonic need to try other things.
Dude, I don't want to 'blame' anyone. Sega had a valid reason to simplify the cast after '06 struggled to make so many characters work. Nowadays, things have changed, people are tired of just Sonic, and Sega is slow to catch up.

Well you're pretty thin on the ground when it comes to that. And even then, enjoying a game doesn't undo the flaws it has. I enjoy the Werehog and didn't have an issue with the medals in Unleashed. Doesn't mean they don't hamper the flow of the game. I really enjoy Shadow the Hedgehog, doesn't mean that its controls are good or that the game doesn't have structural problems.
Also, you just said you don't like it when the story takes itself too seriously. '06 is one of the worst when it comes to taking itself seriously, up there with Shadow the Hedgehog.

I've encountered one glitch in the game, which was Rouge clipping on to a wall without any way of jumping off.
As for the physics, I've encountered a similar issue in Sonic 4 Episode 1.
Overall, I enjoyed the gameplay. Mainly Silver's.

HyperSonicXdA In reply to BronyVideoGamer [2018-02-26 18:57:27 +0000 UTC]
Not even talking about the glitches. There's a lot of pretty obnoxious design in '06. And the load times. The FCKING load times. I haven't even played the game but I know that's what I'm gonna hate the most.
And Sonic 4 Episode 1 isn't exactly a posterchild for good physics either, now is it?
Well I mean, if you grew up more a Nintendo fan that's entirely understandable, but don't go saying that among a Sonic fan audience.

The second part of what I said is mainly why I'm against any Classic Sonic games that aren't Sonic 3 & Knuckles, spin-offs, or part of Modern Sonic games.
S3&K is the only game that has aged well in the Classic Sonic series, IMO.
I do like the Unleashed trilogy, too, but I'm still not fond of Unleashed myself due to Colors and Generations just feeling overall better. (And funnier.)

The HD version I will say is really underrated, but there are some points where the game falls flat. Specifically where your score resets to zero when you die.
The levels are really beautiful to look at, and the worlds, too. But the story is just... Eh for me.

HyperSonicXdA In reply to BronyVideoGamer [2018-02-26 20:25:22 +0000 UTC]
That's annoying but that was standard for Sonic at the time, really. Since Colors they compensate for keeping your score by NOT keeping your time. Doesn't really bother me nowadays, because I know the levels really well. I'm not going for perfects when I first play the level anyway. To me it's the worst in Heroes, because it doesn't just reset your score, but also the level-ups on your characters. Which makes the stage immensely harder.
The story is one of the better ones for the series to me. And that intro cutscene. Best cutscene in the franchise, hands down. But yeah, that Unleashed is the best looking Sonic game even 10 years later says a great deal.

I dislike the negative connotations to the term 'nostalgia pandering', more than I dislike the phenomenon itself, really. To me you can pander as much to nostalgia as you like, as long as it's actually creative and makes some degree of sense. Generations does this. Mania does it to a point. Forces does not really.
Easily. Would pay for the gameplay engine they'd need to make for it.
